Johan, as big a Prince as I was back in the day, I never saw him perform live :-( Have you had a chance to see his newer concerts and what are your thoughts on them?

Bernie, I saw him in London at the O2 concerts and I saw a different Prince then before. The old Prince was focused on dancing, show and teasing the audience and the recent one has put aside the decorum and is now totally focused on Music. Live, he's getting better every time I see him. A song almost never sounds the same at a concert, changes from style, length. You know, when I go to a concert I want to see musicians. I want to hear craftmanship. Prince delivers that to the maxx. I've also been to aftershows where he showcasts new and experimental stuff.
To give you an example. Over the last weeks we saw Gaga, hard working talented girl but that concert did not appeal to me as it was too extravagant. I can see that on a DVD for less money. Next was Alicia Keys. Also a big talent but she also falls into the Vegas-trap. When she's performing on her piano, that's the Alicia I dig.
Last Friday we went to Rammstein in Holland and that was a feast. The show is completely over the top, very theatrical with the flame throwers but the songs are extremely strong. It's that unique blend of Metal, Techno and Teutonic and bombastic theatre that does it for us. Next Sunday we're going back to Rammstein in Germany and I'm curious to find out what the difference between the two shows will be.
As for Prince, together with Pink Floyd he's the best live musician that I ever saw. Maybe I missed other excellent stuff but I can not judge what I didn't see.
And to answer your question, the above clip is a very good example of what you can expect from him in 2010.
