"Standing In The Rain" -- John Paul Young
Just a guess. There are different versions and the one used in the movie, Strictly Ballroom, has a calypso feel to it.
i think it could be called "rain"
male voice singing
lyrics go like this:
restless without reason
hurting without pain
the wind is blowing me away
blowing just the same
the fire danced the rising tide
it goes against the grain
its bowing(?) up and down
and left me standing.............. in the rain
sung to a disco calypso type sound
any clues guys

hi nicknack thanks for the reply, but i have john paul young's song. this is a totlally different song. the singer starts off singing whoaooooo rainnnnnnnnn (over an 8 beat stretch) twice before hitting the lyrics i posted. its more of a spanish hustle than calypso the more i listen to it (i taped it from the radio) but thanks anyway nicknack.
any more guesses????

Hi Carmine,
One more guess. I remember having a 45 rpm single way back when called "Rain 2000". It was by Titanic and it started out with a guy doing the intro you describe. Can't remember any of the lyrics but this might be the one.
hey nicknack, im not sure if this is the one but i think it might be. i tried to get a sample from cdnow but it wasnt available as a sample, but its on their eagle rock album (cd only as a bonus track).
thanks for the lead nicknack. i think this is gonna be a journey tracking this one down!!
