It's alright. Not disco, definitely funk. I like it, although it doesn't blow me away. It's more about the drum breaks.

I heard at parties mostly, perhaps once or twice to the best of my recollection in the clubs.

Personally, while I don't think he gets any points for originality, he does pull the sound off fairly well. A better example from him would be the remix of "Saturday Night Move-Ease" or "Doctor Rock (Version II)".
