Top 15 of 1980
Another of my mix tapes with updated remixes used where one of superior quality was available. This was what I consider to be the last year of "The Disco Era." The following year saw a significant drop off in the popularity of dance music, only to make a comeback in following years as the New Wave with more of a European influence. But 1980 was the last of the "great" years for disco.
15. "No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)" - Donna Summer with Barbara Streisand
14. "On The Radio" - Donna Summer
13. "Take Your Time (Do It Right)" - SOS Band
12. "Off The Wall" (Junior Vasquez Remix) - Michael Jackson
11. "Workin My Way Back To You" -The Spinners
10. "He's So Shy" - The Pointer Sisters
09. "Ladies Night" - Kool & The Gang
08. "Please Don't Go" (Albert Cabrera Remix) - K.C. & The Sunshine Band
07. "Cars" (JLAB Remix) - Gary Neuman
06. "Fame" - Irene Cara
05. "Funkytown" - Lipps, Inc.
04. "Upside Down" (Down Under Def Mix) - Diana Ross
03. "Rock With You" (Masters At Work Remix) - Michael Jackson
02. "Call Me" (E-Smoove Beat Vocal Remix) - Blondie
01. "Another One Bites The Dust" (Incredible Dusted B-Boy Remix) - Queen
Best Of the lot here is definetely "Take Your Time" by SOS Band. A classic track from their pre- Jam/Lewis period that many tend to forget from (I believe) their debut album on Tabu.
Funny way you intervean the classic tracks with newer remixes. And even good ones, I might add...the MAW mix of Jacko's Rock With You is nothing short of stunning :)

It's amazing what would be considered the top 15 at my club hangout... Although it was a young adult (18-22), we still played 1,3,4,5,9,10,11,13.
Add:
Kurtis Blow - The Breaks
Kurtis Blow - Christmas Rap
Pleasure - Glide
Zapp - More Bounce To The Ounce
Twennynine featuring Lenny White - Peanut Butter
and it would sound more like from our club. :D
Yes efunk. You can definitely see in your list, achange in style for disco. I remember sensing back then that the era was changing or coming to an end then. I wasn't too happy about this
Anyway, I agree with K-Bee's selection of the SOS Band's "Take Your Time" as the best of the lot. It's a nice song on a good album and I believe you are correct about it being on the Tabu label.
Find them and destroy them!
Paul, I remember when I heard SOS BAND - Take Your Time... a bunch of us from the club... just happened to be at Magic Mountain. They had a huge club there.. I heard it for the first time. I'm like :o what is this :D :D :D I agree with both of ya... SOS was the best of the list. I couldn't get home fast enough to buy the 12" ..Originally Written by paul
