Teddy Pendergrass!
That voice, those songs...nuff said!
Yes we LOVE our Divas~! and give them much props, as they well deserve..This thread is dedicated to the Male counterparts from the Disco era. "The Divos" ..Michael Jackson is too easy an answer, that's a given . I would have to say two of my favorites are Cerrone and Patrick Juvet.. Divo Dj's are fair game as well..
OK Your Turn:icon_smile:
Teddy Pendergrass!
That voice, those songs...nuff said!
I go with Paul Parker...because I've been a fan ever since I heard him sing on Patrick Cowley's Tech-No-Logical World.
By the way - in case anyone is interested - he has a brand new album featuring all new original material.
:icon_cool: p.s. There you go Jeff - I'm still plugging away !
KRIS
Frankie Valli comes in mind, especially with his Soul / Heaven above me song.
If you buy this record your life, will be better.
Edwin Starr, who was born Charles Edwin Hatcher.
He changed his name to Starr because he saw himself as one.
Born in Nashville, he moved to England in the early '70's.
And he was smart enough to keep changing with the times.
When you see yourself as important in your own life, you are halfway to success.
But look who I'm telling that to....

The one and only Mr...
Barry White!!!
:-)
Danny Lugo from Destination. A real soaring disco voice.
Plus he did the ultimate diva thing on Destination's follow-up when they became DANNY LUGO & Destination.
"Because there's music in the air."
Oh easy choice here......sylvester...a stage performer like you have never seen...
DJ Dan "Pooch" Pucciarelli
Teddy Pendergrass, no competition whatsoever. The best male voice in popular music, ever. Add to that an impeccably sharp dress sense and you had a Divo in the true Italian sense of the word. Check out the cream Armani coats and the white scarves worn just right over those Gucci shirts. He was also one of the very few who could wear gold chains - almost an impossible task but he pulled it off.
Dennis Parker, Patrick Juvet, Sylvester and Dan Hartman
Disco Lives !!!
Teddy, Barry, Rick James, and this might be cheating a little but I'll include Larry Blackmon of Cameo. While they were around during disco, Larry's biggest impact was just post American disco.:icon_cool:
Find them and destroy them!
Hows about Gino Soccio, Roy Ayers, Eddie Kendricks.
