On Saturday 13th March we come riding back to what’s fast becoming East London’s hottest new venue, the CAMP for another night of musical eclecticism. We are very excited to welcome headliners, the Laurel Collective for the last gig of their UK tour before heading stateside to play SXSW.

Collective by name and by composition, the Laurels are a genre trashing six-piece band (with members hailing from Wales, England, Nigeria and Italy) led by the twin attack and contrasting vocals of front men Martin Sakutu and Bob Tollast. Imagine the motley crew spirit of such misfit gangs as The Specials and Dexys mixed with the rhythmical assault and groove of Sly Family Stone, and blended with the psychedelic pop sensibilities of Super Furry Animals and you’d be half way there. Their album, ‘Feel Good Hits Of A Nuclear Winter’ (Domino) has gained critical acclaim, with Tom Robinson of BBC 6 Music amongst its fans and having heard rave reviews of their other tour date gigs, we are expecting big things from these guys.

Supporting the Laurels on their tour and also performing on the night are quirky Welsh popsters, Innercity Pirates. Tracks from their debut album, ‘Cutting Noses, Chasing Tales’ have gained great support from Zane Lowe (Radio 1’s Alternative Record of the week), XFM and 6 Music amongst others and standout release, ‘Ear Sex’ was the NME’s Vinyl of the Week – “an absurd, brilliantly dissolute crack at making the best white funk record ever.” With their album being described as “a literal roller-coaster ride of love, hate, party, dance, ****-you anthems” expect a high-emotion and high-octane performance from these Welsh wizards!

The resident DJs; Nick Priestley, Reverend JFK and Jamie Blanco, will of course be on duty again, riding the line between soul, disco and deep house picking out rare gems from days gone past, as well as the latest cuts from Phonica.

    Hope to see you there!
