That reminds me Blanche, I recently watched a clip of Teena's concert last month in London & I was amused to read that a comment by one of the audience was 'whats my Aunty Beryl doing up on stage?'!:icon_twisted: Poor Teena, & to think I used to think she looked so cool & fab on her LP covers in the early 80s - age can be a cruel thing!

I'm thinking Beryl Reid in "The Killing Of Sister George."

OMG, that conjures up images of tweed twin sets & Susanna York in a mini-skirt! Wasn't it hilarious when Sister George got axed from the soap? I loved Beryl Reid in 'Entertaining Mr.Sloane' - so outrageous! Sorry good doctor, I've digressed somewhat from the thread!

I have to rent Beryl's films & have me a teeny tiny Beryl Reid Film Fest!
I think of Beryl with a Charlie Chaplin mustache and a bowler hat! :icon_razz:

Re: Average White Band coming to N.O. Jazzfest ...

LOL .....no problem, Marky and Sandy (aka Blanche and Jane) for the "Sister George" Hijack, and it was ALMOST as good a Hijack as Herbie Mann's !

What's interesting about the New Orleans Jazzfest is that it plays out on about 10 different stages simultaneously on the site of the New Orleans Fairgrounds Racetrack, so it's possible to hear one great artist and walk on over to another stage to catch another.

The pricing is fairly novel, too. You pay about $45 to get in the gate on the day you select, and you stay as long as you want over the next 8 hours soaking up that day's music which ranges from Gospel to Rock to Soul to Blues to Jazz to Country to Cajun.

This will be my 21st consecutive year going ....think I'll be still going when I'm 90 (as long as I have teeth to eat the great food at Jazzfest).:icon_razz:

Hope you enjoy the performances. AWB was a great band. I know they'll have to perform Queen Of My Soul and Work To Do.

I've heard mixed reviews of Teena Marie. She was at one of the casinos here in Diego and it seems some of the attendees weren't terribly interested in her show. How disappointing given how much I used to love her.
