Well, maybe it WAS Yarbrough & Peoples?
(Yarbrough & Peoples - Be A Winner)
Did Stevie Wonder do a song with the title Everybody is a Winner, or Everybody Needs A Winner? (or had these repetetive lyrics, with parts of the song being instrumental)
I had heard this song a few times on WPEG in Late Summer 1984 (I Imagine it was new or current then), but never heard it elsewhere, & I thought they ID'd it as Stevie Wonder. Parts of the song almost sound similar to Yarbrough & People's "Don't Waste Your Time".

TY Pulse & that would be it
Now the version I recall only had the male vocals & had longer instrumental parts in it, I think the station did a monolog over the long end once.
It does sound kinda like Stevie Wonder.
Glenn Jones - "Everybody Loves A Winner"?
I guess the song you heard was Hot Chocolate's 1979 release Every One's A Winner. With his high pitch soprano voice, Errol Brown, the lead singer of Hot Chocolate does sound like Stevie Wonder.
