    One Way

One Way put out some awesome songs between 1979-86.
This is one of my favorite bands of the 80's... :D
With so many good songs. I'll list a few of mine:

    Mr. Groove
    Sugar Rock
    You Can Do It
    You Better Quit
    Don't Think (About It)
    Smile
    Don't Fight The Feeling

    anybody else like this group?

I definetely do. Excellent group - they were so much more than this "Let's Talk About Sex" track everybody knows them for. Wonder if Al Hudson still involved in the music biz today?

Also, One Way singer Vee Allen made a solo album "All About Love" produced by Hudson for MCA in 1983.
The difference between this and the regular One Way stuff is non-exixtent  ...Why didn't they just release it as a One Way album.

One way certainly had their moments...I need to revisit their LPs some day, but off the top, here were my favourites:

    'Music' (still incredibly powerful)
    'Cutie Pie'
    'Let's Go Out Tonite'
    'Push'
'Didn't You Know it' (the last One Way tune I flipped on - groovy and deep s**t)
'How Do You Do' and 'Spread Love' as the Soul Partners

    One Way

    Sure Do !
Cutie Pie was huge here in Oz , it had the big beefy bassline and ecxellent ,synth and string back up. I bought this immediately after first hearing it , I also recently picked up one of their LP's but not sure which one ? I will have to check my vault soon .
    cheers

I would add to your list "Pop it" and a slow jam called, I think, "Lost inside of you (lost within you)". I listened to them in their Al Hudson phase and certainly they sounded great.
Apparently their work was poorly edited on CD, with compilations that took their names and photo covers from the original albums, something certainly confusing for me, at least.
It would be good if someone here lists the original albums with name, year and list of tracks. I can't find any vinyl from them round here...

Thanks man! Now if your help me a little... I'm looking for one of those "OW featuring AH" albums, with a white car on the sleeve and the name of the band on a street sign... That one should include both "Pop it" and the slow song I'm looking for. It's not "Lost inside of you" (I checked on Kazaa) but has a similar-sounding name, a mid-tempo and very classy love song, female voice, piano-led, some trumpet in the background, it's the first song on one side... Can you identify it? Pleasssse!!!

    Nano,

Is it the LP with "You Can Do It" on it? I have that one and they were still Al Hudson & The Partners at that point, I think. That was "Happy Feet" unless it was repackaged as something else. It had a street sign and a car on the cover--but, looking at the track listing on allmusic..."Now That I've Found You" is missing...so I'm not sure.

Your song "Pop It" is listed on the "Push" LP and maybe some other hits compilations.

All the name changes may have led to some repackaging of LPs--not sure.
    "Lost inside adorable illusion...."

Nano, I went back and reread your post and BOTH the songs you want are on this "Push" compilation:

    1. Something in the Past (Hudson/Perkins)
    2. Lost Inside of You
    3. Don't Do Me This Way
    4. Another Love Song
    5. Guess You Didn't Know
    6. If You Play Your Cards Right
    7. Call Me
    8. Push (McCord)
    9. Lady You Are
    10. Pop It (Hudson/McCord)

Since it doesn't contain such major One Way moments as "Cutie Pie" and "Mr. Groove," MCA Special Products' Push can't be thought of as a definitive hits collection, but it has enough — "Something in the Past," "Pop It," "Lady You Are" — to make it worth its budget-price for some casual fans. [The cassette version of Push contains eight tracks, while the CD contains two bonus tracks: "Pop It" and "Lady You Are"] — Stephen

    single smile

for those of you who remember the single "smile" I was brousing the gemm.com site, and came across the 12" promo copy of smile :D I remember hearing a different version on the r&b station many years ago. I just thought it was a dj mixing live when I heard it...

I just got the record from a seller for $5.75 8) it rocks!!! especially the "dub/scratch mix" 8:01. Another seller had the record for $35 :o It's worth the $35 price tho.

has anybody heard the 12" "dub/scratch" version?

Hi Blax! Long time no see

Dear Marky, efunkadelic: in fact what I was asking was for someone to check the vinyl album and write here the list of tracks (I don't trust the CD listings on this one, it seems to be altered). The track I'm looking for... I don't know its name. It's this slow song that keeps running on my head, I thought it was "Lost inside of you" but then I downloaded it from Kazaa and nope. But in my memory it was the first song on one side of that LP with the white car and the street sign. If I remember well, the OTHER "OW featuring Al Hudson" titled LP had a browny cover with a photo of all the group members.
Am I right, or what the hell, I'm losing it guys? Help me!

I'd like to buy a OW CD but with this devaluation thing imported CDs went through the roof (think 3 or 4 times the price of a local-made CD). My hope is to find the vinyl LP in the Rivadavia Park (a big record fair here in Buenos Aires) or some second-hand store. But OW LPs are hard-to-find items around here, my friends... (Same with Gino Soccio, Raydio and most other things I like. But Van McCoy, Ritchie Family? They're all over the place! Grrrr! )

Nano, I got my info from reference books... during that period... they put out 2 LP's with the same title
Anyways... I found the LP One Way Featuring Al Hudson (MCA 5127) for which I believe the song you are talking about (I think) is on that one... I don't own this LP... I couldn't tell ya... I've got the link.. but the link is so long that I can't read the whole thing.. (****!!!) :( however, go to http://discomusic.gemm.com it's on the third page of one way records available... look for the seller mellowgrooves... and you'll see it! e-mail him for the info... and guess how much they want for a m- copy... $12.50 :D let me know how it goes... ok

Thanks efunka! I'm pretty sure the song title ends in "you", and now -thanks to your list- I have three songs that fit the bill... Will look for them on Kazaa and Soulseek.
I'm sure we're on the right path...

Yes...used to love 'Shoot Your Shot' and 'Gemstone' even though his weedy, bitty trumpet playing spoiled the latter!
