Internet Radio Recommendations..

Ok I'm a bit slow on the Technology front but.....

I've downloaded an app to my I-Phone which allows me to listen to thousands of radio stations all over the world. Of course I'm only interested in the stations that play Disco music but there are so many out there (to my pleasant surprise) does anyone have any recommendations?

I don't want any European ones, no offence but if they play something I like and haven't got in my collection and there's a jock announcing the tunes I wouldn't be able to understand what he was saying. I started out with about 30 bookmarked but have cut these down as I also have a rule that any station playing a Bee Gees track gets canned.

So which are the really good ones..?

I enjoy www.Pandora.com

It let's you create personal radio stations based on artists you like. And remembers songs you like and don't like. For instance, I created a Cerrone station. And it plays a nice selection of old and new Cerrone songs, plus music by similar artists. And it's free.

I also like www.live365.com

It has more personally DJ'd stations. Some great dance/disco selections, especially the ones with professional sounding mixes. Some are free, but some are Premium, and you have to pay. But I've heard some great obscure cuts here.

For the Cool stuff ( meaning cosmic rarities, hippie disco, radical underground gems, tasty italo stuff, afroboogie, delinquent Japanese girl gang dance tunes, erotic soundtracks and the occasional European or American disco classic) try the radio at Overfitted Disco. Google it, open it and download it. There's a running text announcing the tracks as opposed to an annoying live presenter, and the non-stop programming is 100% Bee Gees-free. And blimey, they got some badass British Disco too!

If you get Live365, check out Disco935 (or Google it and check it out via his website). Excellent stuff!!!

Also, Pandora (who I really liked when they started) has some competition called Slacker. Check that out too...though I think their Disco channel is pretty mainstream.

I love deevaradio too, though I prefer their funk channel over the disco channel as I'm more boogie-inclined ;-)
