O learned disco-heads, I call upon you once more to identify a bouncy pop-dance number called, I believe, "Get Up and Do Your Thing." At least that is the dominant line of the lyrics, followed by, "and don't you be afraid!" This agreeable bit of fluff floated to the surface of the memory bank thanks to a French film called "La Première Etoile." The song is not found on itunes or lala, at least not under this title!
As well as 'One Way featuring Al Hudson', this single was also released under the name 'Al Hudson and The Partners'.

Knew I could count on ya. Just downloaded it. The instrumental break is a little reminiscent of "Pick Up the Pieces," and the syncopation recalls "Disco Nights" by GQ, another one of my favorites. That clavinet tears it up! According to the ever-reliable All Music Guide to Soul, the female vocalist is Alicia Myers, "a passionate, big-voiced goddess who went solo in the early '80s, and is best known for her 1981 hit 'I Want to Thank You.'" I'm listening to that now on lala but I don't recall it nor find it compelling. Thoughts?
