While New York had the Studio 54, Paris/France had Le Palace, the venue where stars gathered, people went crazy on Disco music and the place to be seen for coming stars and fashionistas.
I never went to the 54 but I managed to get in Le Palace a few times and I can tell you, it was awesome, it was D.I.S.C.O!
Le Palace has recently re-opened again, owned by 2 Belgian brothers and just like the 54 it's a theatre again.

Amazing footage! Went to both Studio 54 and Le Palace. The music in both places was immaculate but in every other category, Le Palace wins: no absurd door policy, far better looking and younger crowd, indefinitely more stylish. The club employed genuine artists to built and frequently change the decos, too. Most importantly, the place was all about a great mix of street people, poseurs, celebs and freaks, clubbers you wanted to have fun and get down with. I can't imagine anyone really wanted to dance with let alone shag those sad, stoned zombies at the N.Y joint. Le Palace was the ultimate disco, the best club the world has ever known. Amen.
