I usually look for The Miracle.
.
At work we listen to an oldies station that plays a lot of cool songs... and I hear this song frequently. This is my favorite song by them.
You Are Everything
:D
what is your favorite Song by the Stylistics...
try to name your "favorite" only. :D
I usually look for The Miracle.
.
I also like the Stylistics, and here are some of my favorite songs of theirs:
"You Are Everything"
"You Make Me Feel Brand New"
"I'm Stone In Love With You"
Sorry, but I couldn't list just one favorite.
I like their cover of Carol King's "It's Too Late" and the way it flows into "Children of the Night".
Honorable mention: "People Make the World Go 'Round".
I like "I can't give you anything" .... for some reason my local 'Smooth Jazz' stations has a couple of Stylistics tracks on rotation for a few months now. Amazing how this tunes can stand the test of time.
I'm a BIG fan of The Stylistics. I saw them perform recently on one of those R&B shows on PBS and they still sound great.
The early songs were mostly written (with the late Linda Creed) and produced by the great Thom Bell. Almost everything was terrific.
Stop, Look, Listen (To Your Heart)
You Are Everything
Betcha By Golly Wow
I'm Stone In Love With You
Let's Put It All Together
and MY 2 ALLTIME FAVES:
Break Up To Make Up
& You Make Me Feel Brand New.
After they stopped working with Mr. Bell, Van McCoy produced the early disco hit "Hey Girl, Come & Get It".
Then the Hugo & Luigi years began...and it was never the same.
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
As well as all the slowies I always had a soft spot for Funky Weekend merely because it was uptempo and very danceable (for an English crowd). I admit it was really a pop song more than anything, but sometimes these things stick.
Hey Quinny,
You made me remember my favorite dance number by this group: "Love Is The Answer". Early disco fun with vocal and instrumental sides for the dj 8) . And who was on that horn in the begining of the instrumental? Was it Doc Severenson? Great intro with those 'Love's Theme' violins swirling up under him.
The powerful r&b ballad group "Stylistics". As good as they were and with their songs still standing the test of time, amazingly Never had a #1 hit.

"Break Up To Make Up"
"You'll Never Get To Heaven (If You Break My Heart)"
"Rockin' Roll Baby"

On the top of my favorites - "Hurry Up This Way Again" and "Driving Me Wild" from their later Philly Intl. years!
For me, "People Make The World Go Round" - especially the 6 min LP version with the instrumental fade out. I loved the LP cover as well!!
This is why I like it too, Jazz. The instrumental fade is sweet. I remember the first time I played this for a friend. All through the vocals he just sat and grooved but when the instrumental kicked in, he said: "NOW, there doin' it"! I knew exactly what he meant. Granted, the Stylistics are playing but it's the whole package that worked.Originally Written by jazz_pilgrim
