Simon Said (featuring Saundra Simon) did a cover of the Charlie Chaplin-composed "Smile"; charted 1975 into 1976; they had been Gloria Gaynor's back-up group

There's another song of the same name by Skylite on BBE's Disco Forever compilation.

I believe the version that I remember is more along the lines of "smile if your heart is broken". There are older versions of it. But there was a disco version cut - back in the 70s. :icon_cool:
