Re: Richie Kaczor
Richie was unique and gifted as a mixer. And one hell of a sweetheart as a person. I used to go with friends to Hollywood mid-week just to hear him. I was working The Gallery weekends so Wednesday was one of my "party nights". Richie's style was like no other DJ I had heard at the time. No blending but beat-matching in an awesome fashion. When it came to extending those shorter songs or running and intro or break, his style of beat-slamming was perfect.
I remember turning to a friend and Gallery co-worker on about my second visit to Hollywood and saying, "Damn, that man can play! He doesn't miss!" My friend replied, "He's gonna run out of music mixing like that. You can only do that with so many songs." Glad to say Richie had more than enough music. (So was my friend, Frankie Knuckles.) :icon_biggrin:
Unfortunately, Adrian might be correct as "Steppin to Our Disco" is the only vinyl I've seen which credits Richie Kaczor. Too bad.
