Sounds to me like a re-edit of 'Smack Dab In The Middle' by Janice McClain. The bit near the end when she sings 'when youre hot youre hot, when youre not youre not'.

so it was in fact a record I knew, the instrumental part towards
the end sounded so familiar but I couldn't quite place it. But
