Both Joe Bataan & Gil Scott-Heron's recordings of "The Bottle" were played in clubs, but Bataan's was an instrumental and Scott-Heron's was the vocal version.

"I Didn't Know" was by the Three Degrees.

Hmmm...all that comes to mind is Elvis Presley. He did a ballad in the 1950's with that title: "I Want You, I Need You, I Love You" (with all my heart)... Could this be what you're thinking of?

Just a word on the Three Degrees: "I Didn't Know" came out in 1975 on Philadelphia International. The song has appeared on various Three Degrees CD compilations.
