I'm glad I found this board. I've done some reading for a few days and I must say I'm impressed by the in-depth knowledge of all the discophiles here. Puts me back down in my place! So, if anyone can help with my ID request, it's just gotta be someone hanging out here.
A friend has asked me to find a club track for her that she claims was played while she was clubhopping in NYC around 1978 or 1979. I wasn't old enough to be there at the time so my knowledge of the era only slightly goes beyond the classics. Here's what she can tell me about it:
The song is largely an instrumental except for an occasional female vocalist intoning (singing?) "I don't care." Evidently, those are the only lyrics to the song. Also, she mentioned a bass line that was sorta to the beat of "ba-bump, ba-bump-bump". I know these clues are a little flimsy but it's all she can remember except that this song always seemed to be part of a full-on mix, which I would take to mean that it's not much of a song in itself, but it figures nicely in a continuous set.
Going by her bassline (it's always fun to hear a lady sing the bassline!) I played "Makes You Blind" by the Glitter Band for her, which was what immediately came to mind. Well, that ain't it, but she now has a new fave, so there you go. Keeping in mind that this is a fairly fuzzy 30 year old memory, I'm allowing some leeway in the probable year of release. It may have been a song from the very early 80s. It made enough of an impression on her to ask about it now, and she's asked more than a few times. I figured I hadda do something desperate, so I'm reaching out to you. Anyone out there able to tackle this one? Any and all responses will be appreciated.
