a sizable bit:
Most notably a remake of his own classic:
THEME FROM A SUMMER PLACE ...
this song was on the TOP of Billboard's Hot 100 for nine consecutive weeks in 1960
....the longest #1 run of any instrumental ....ever ...
live presentation:
Disco probably came easy for Percy Faith . As an orchestrator he was known for his lush arrangements ( notice in the footage , the "101" strings & the three french horns ). It is he who is often credited with creating the Easy Listening or Mood Music format. :icon_cool:
NYC took to his updated disco version of SUMMER PLACE nudging it into the Top Ten of Marky's Censensus Chart:
139) SUMMER PLACE '76 - Percy Faith
(Columbia) B= 15; C=21; D= 25; F= 6; Total points = 67
4 week on the chart (11/1 - 12/6/75); 1 week in the Top 10; Peak: #6

Percy Faith would pass away within a very short time of this , in February of 1976 , at age 68.

Interesting arrangement. The rhythm sounds like the stuff Tony Camillo did with Charo.
Disco Funk
Great Discofied version but you know that I like stuff like that. Like Remmy says, Disco was very easy for arrangers like Percy Faith, James Last, Caravelli and others.
Philly did borrow heavily from European classical music so symphonic orchestras just needed to add some beat and rhythm. And others took those ingredients and turned it into the real Disco that we cherish so much. Disco was just an evolution from the old dance music our great-great-grandparents danced too.
I don't know if we have found musical works from the old Egyptians but I'm pretty sure that they made music and when you rework that and put some rhythmic spice over it, you would have a composition that would not be very far from Costandinos.
You guys are bringing up all my fave instrumental tracks this week! First 'Mysteries Of The World' & now 'Theme from a Summer Place'.:icon_razz: I'm so pleased.
...ya gotta beat the street......
