Commodores Brick House (12"): Vinyl Records @ DiscoMusic.com
Forgive the triviality of this post, but I'm curious -- would you guys consider "Brick House" by the Commodores disco-funk or solely funk? For that matter, did it even make the disco charts? I did a search on this site and didn't find the song in any thread, let alone the disco consensus chart threads for each year.

This is one of the few tunes singled out by Motown for their special disco 12" packaging treatment that actually warranted the fuss.
This one , they got right :icon_cool:
Also ......although not appearing on the soundtrack, BRICK HOUSE was used in the disco movie THANK GOD ITS FRIDAY . Here are the songs in that movie NOT on the Soundtrack:

Checked the stats on BRICK HOUSE on the Disco Charts
It charts twice in the Top 40:
April 16, 1977: debuts @ #34 (charting in Detroit & New Orleans)
April 23, 1977: charts #40 (Detroit only)
April 30, 1977: "bubbles under" Top 40 (Detroit only)
I don't see it anywhere in May, 1977---didn't check beyond that.
In general, the funk dance stuff gets mentions in various cities that most definitely are NOT NYC.But Detroit, Pittsburgh, Phoenix, Atlanta, New Orleans, Dallas/Houston, even LA....and others selectively mention funk titles from time to time--for example Seattle charts a Con Funk Shun title ("Sure Feels Good To Me") in Feb. 1977 that no other chart mentions.
I'm guessing it's crossover leakage to discos from radio popularity in a certain city...but it's only a guess.
