I was wondering if there were interesting disco songs sung Italian in 70s?
I think these are more Pop, but I do like a lot of Al Bano & Romina Powers, as wells as Umberto Tozzi (Gloria), Ricchi i Poveri, and some Toto Cutugno (Flash for example). But these are probably more Ialian pop in style from San Remo, rather than disco.
Were there other more disco artists singing in Italian in 70s and early 80s?
Thanx in advance
Raffaella Carra' in 1977: "A far l'amore comincia tu"; the original version is in German ("Tanze Samba mit Mir" by Tony Holiday) and there is even a French version (Serge Nelson, "Rien que du bonheur").
Early 80's: Pino D'Angio: "Ma quale idea", "Okay okay", "Una notte d'impazzire", three songs more or less similar from the 1981 lp "Balla" in a pop-rap post-disco way :icon_biggrin:. "Ma quale idea" was a huge hit in European countries.
Ricchi e Poveri had a huge European hit in 1981 with "Sara' perche' ti amo" but it's not very disco.
"Dove andiamo" (Tom Hooker, 1982); the English version is "Talk with your body". A very nice song.

But generally Italian producers hire US singers and the records are in English. Some Italian singers like Marzio Vincenzi sing in English with a noticeable accent ("I'm a man", 1978). At least we can more or less understand what he sings (the reverse is not always true: in the 60's Motown released some versions of their current hits in Italian like "You can't hurry love", "You keep me hangin' on", "My girl", "Reach out I'll be there" or "I can't help myself" and it's a challenge to understand what they are singing; Spanish or French versions are in the same camp and "Estás en mi sistema" by The System or "Je ne veux pas la fin de nous" by Michael Jackson and Siedah Garrett seem to be sung in a language of their own :icon_biggrin:; Jermaine Jackson had many Spanish versions of its songs like this one:
I know it's not Italian but everything is sooo good here that I couldn't resist).

oh yeah Pino's Ma quale idea, I've come across that one before :icon_mrgreen:
thank you for the link, I'll check it out
one that I came across on youtube was Gepy & Gepy - Blu from 77..

another one is Pupo -Gelato al cioccolato, but this one is rather poppy as well :icon_mrgreen:

Try "Cosa Mi Succedera" by Le Streghe, a version of "You Keep Me Hanging On". Le Streghe also did "Ballerino":

This begins with a chant in English but the rest of the lyrics are in Italian.
Youtube of course has several videos of the fab formaggio track "Disco Bambina" by Heather Parisi, sung in Italian by the long legged starlet.
While you're at it, check the Gloria Guida disco tunes like "..Musica E" from the epic topless-night-nurses-go-disco film "Infirmiera Di Notte".
Here is one I used to play in the early 80's. I believe it was a big hit as it had an actual 12 inch release

I'm surprised no one thought of Heather Parisi, known for such songs as "Disco Bambina": YouTube - heather parisi - disco bambina
It does contain some English lyrics, but the song is mostly in Italian.

I read that Adriano Celentano had some disco songs, but I still haven't heard any. The closest one I heard was his duet with his wife Claudia Mori, Non succedera piu, but that's a bit more pop, though a very lovely song.
Le Streghe - Ballerino is a very good one, thank you for that one. I never heard it before
What about this track from Two Man Sound, who were based in Belgium?
I have a track on a series of break beat records called 'Chella Lla'. I'm not sure who the original artist was, but it's usually credited as Disco Italiano. It features Italian vocals. Unfortunately, I couldn't find it on Youtube.
Disco Funk
Adriano did what is now considered the firts rap record (?!) with this:

The 1977 Decadisc lp is mostly real disco with a very good "When Love". In 1978 he did a Bee Gees-influenced disco lp Geppo, a soundtrack to a film, with the excellent long title tune.

Despite the title "Disco Dance" that album of his isn't actually danceable at all.
Also try "El Velero" and "Nessun Dolore" by Lucio Battisti.

Here's Renato Zero...

and above all, check these sassy signorinas out - you don't see dance moves or boots like that anymore:

Nicola Di Bari - La Più Bella Del Mondo (1976)

Great topic. Do you know, Peppino di Capri recorded a song called ''Fiori di Carta'', it´s Bee Gees' ''How Deep Is You Love'' in Italian. An Italian guy called McCoy Handy recorded an almost perfect copy of Van McCoy's ''The Hustle''
.
I like a disco song called ''Cazzarola'' by Fred Bongusto.
