Love it!!! I can't top that but I wanted to suggest "E=mc2" by Giorgio Moroder ,the end part where he vocally lists the credits for the album.."tea and coffee by Lori...",surely the only time the coffee girl has vocally been given credit on a song..:icon_question:
"Thats my DISCO...BABY...freakin' out the discotheque..."
It's not intentionally strange, but the Pattie Brooks "Heartbreak in Disguise" 12" with the mastering error is right up there for me. It's still amazing to me that it got all the way through the quality control and pressing process without being noticed. It's fun to play for unsuspecting friends and see their faces when her voice slows down and then speeds up.
Off the top of my head...?
The first thing that comes to mind is:
Barbara Markay's 1979 12", on HOTBOX Records
Side A - "It's Allrite To F#@k All Night (It's Okay To S@#k All Day)"
(uncensored)
Side B - "It's Allrite To Truck All Nite (It's Okay to Truck All Day)"
(censored for airplay)
With this chant over the bridge;
The HotBox
(hot box!)
Disco
Sho' Nuff
(sho' nuff)
Loves You
And this chant over the break;
Do a F#@K, F#@K
Oh Baby, now S#@K, S#@K
Do a F#@K, F#@K
Oh Baby, now S#@K, S#@K
The fact that it's a completely sex-gimmick record, isn't what makes it "strange"...
What does, is that they were obviously trying to make a legitimate Disco record!! Complete with string & horn arrangements, a couple excellent percussionists, and a fairly good guitarist. Whilst throwing (really lame) sleazy lyrics on top of it all. Unfortunately, the arrangement & overall style, of this blatantly formulaic recording, was about 3 years too late. If it had been released in 1976, it could've been a passable, short-term, novelty hit on dance floors.
The musical elements pull it way out of any Pop Music category, but aren't strong enough to overcum the...
hmmm... let's say... misguided lyrics.
"MUSIC IS AN EMOTION, SEARCHING FOR IT'S VOICE"

These are wonderful examples of "strange" ! Keep 'em coming!
I used a broader term like "strange" because I'm interested in any examples you have that strike you as "strange" for whatever reason .... any that stand out in your collection in that manner ...
____________________________
I don't think this one is quite as strange as the car tire one (which having been sold specifically through tire dealerships (a disco record !!) adds to its strangeness)
But a disco record shaped like a baseball is .... well also
strange !!
as is composing a disco song about Pete Rose (! :icon_eek: !) ........ now that i think about it !!!![]()

And what's also odd is that Barbara Markay is still to this day a relatively well known and respected conceptual artist. At first I thought no, she can't be the sama Babs who did that ott record, but according to her own website, she's our girl. So she's not some reject from the porn industry but a real artist. Isn't it great that she actually is proud enough of the song to list it there among all the poetry recitals and cds of contemporary jazz?
This raises a question, though. Was Barbara spoofing the genre as opposed to putting out a legit disco record?
One of my all-time favorite French Disco records!
The concept was:
A Robot-Moster comes to Earth to "scare you!"
He meets a girl who isn't afraid of him and she takes him out to a Disco
He dances with her (through the macabre little melody, "Robot Death")
and he blows-up at the end.
along the way...
some excellent, hard-core French Disco tracks
Done a la' Alec, Cerrone & Voyage
the story within the grooves is just as cryptic as the back-cover narration

OMG... I *so* want this!
Bruno
which one do you want?
The Robot one.
....and I dig how the Robot record is billed as a "Discomedy" :icon_eek: Can't say I've ever seen that term in the English language before.
And cinematically, I guess that's how the movie "Thank God It's Friday" should've been advertised, as a "discomedy", and throw in "Roller Boogie" and "Skatetown USA" as 2 examples of UNINTENTIONAL "Discomedies". :icon_razz:

well, dont really have anything to top any of these examples-but to me that little flexi-disc that mad magazine put out during the height of the disco craze has always been off the wall to me-pretty good music-but the lyrics and the whole concept was nuts!
Langlang: just found that Mad Disco EP flex-disc on eBay...
