HERE I WOULD LIKE TO DISCUSS SONGS THAT SOME OF US PLAYED THAT VERY FEW OTHERS MIGHT HAVE TOUCHED UPON. SONGS THAT YOU THOUGHT WERE GOOD, SONGS THAT YOU FEEL SHOULD HAVE BEEN A HIT. SONGS THAT PUT PEOPLE ON THE FLOOR, BUT, NEVER REALLY BECAME A HIT, MADE THE CHARTS, MADE IT ON THE RADIO.

We've had loads of threads about songs that should've been hits full of posts from listeners and dancers, but I'd love to see this one exclusively devoted to posts from DJs such as yourself about the songs that they played and loved but never became hits.
I love "Rhythm of Life"!!!
I mentioned this song some years back...

I felt Love Epidemic should have been a monster hit, just like Love Train.
Bump Me Baby by Dooley Silverspoon and Love Don't You Go Through No Changes On Me by Sister Sledge. I'll think of more later----------
Always looking for remastered 12\" versions on CD
According to Vince Aletti's superb, totally essential Disco Files 1973-78 , Love Epidemic, Bump Me Baby and the Sister Sledge track were all massive hits during the early era. The book does not contain any mention of Jean Carn's Time Waits For No-One, though - or at least I did not spot it being listed. I've spinned this tune a few times during the past couple of year to a very good reaction. A classic Philly-style track, smooth and classy and with a memorable hook - why wasn't this a biggie?

At the end of 1980, the entity called, "BABY 'O" released a follow-up to their Latin-NRG smash "In The Forest", from earlier in the year.
In addition to Baby 'O Records not having a distribution deal...
The A-side was a funky, urban tempo'd track titled, "Dance All Night.
(a real snoozer!)
The B-side was a 140(ish) bpm, Euro-Disco killer titled, "Your Eyes".
(a sound, much like Harlow's "Take Off", meets Cappucino's "Gorgeous Things")
Which contains one of the greatest String-breaks & Brass arrangements, of all time!
I've always felt that, lack-of accessibility was the reason it didn't catch-on.
The only record to mix it with (without slowing it down so much that the horns & strings went flat) was Lime's "Your Love".
Which was fairly-well, burning-out by then.

I don't know for sure, whether this song was a huge hit anywhere, but it should have been.
I only heard Paco play it sparingly on 92KTU B.I.T.D, in fact it wasn't until I joined this site that someone was finally able to confirm the title and artist so I could find the record.

qdearl - - - You said that it was played on KTU BITD, I played this a couple of times but I never thought it should have been a hit. This is just a filler in the early night. I am happy you are taking part in the thread, really. But I am interested in songs that DJ's played from their own taste they feel should have had more exposure.
Thanks Again:icon_cool:

Point taken, but I feel I should mention that I wasn't old enough to Dj in a club @ that time:icon_lol: but if I was I would have played the song regularly, I still play it now, as I still think it's better than "filler" it has the same energy you get from cuts like San Salvador by Azoto, Savage Lover by Ring or Santa Esmeralda's Don't Let me Be Misunderstood, and I get favorable audience response today(though it may just be the alcohol talking by then...), I only referenced the radio, as it's where I heard it, since I wasn't in the clubs at the time.:icon_cool:

One song I played in the early 80's which I have mentioned in a earlier thread that got no airplay what so ever was the flip side to Optimo Cavern by Liquid Liquid. It is called Scraper Out. Has a great bass hook. Honestly I only payed about 2 minutes of it but always got a great reaction since no one knew it. Also another song I would play early in the night was a song called Hupendi Muziki Wangu?! by K.I.D. Since it was a B side I don't think that was played as well.
