Yep that's right Chali 2na the standout member of Jurassic 5 and founding member of Ozomatli will be filling Cargo with his smooth booming vocals. After stellar guest spots it's no surprise he has decided to step out on his own. His long awaited solo release 'Fish Outta Water' boasts a variety of influences, with guest spots from Talib Kweli, Elzhi (Slum Village) and Damien Marley. Even though I would of preferred to see him keep rhyming over the old school beats of J5's early material, its interesting to hear him on variety of beats you wouldn't expect (or would you??). In case you've been under a log, J5 were a group of emcees and producers out to have fun, maybe drop some knowledge, and bring that feel good sentiment back to hiphop. And bring that feeling back they did, across a total of four releases to be exact. Melding old school hiphop rhymes with beats and samples courtesy of Cut Chemist's extensive rare groove and funk collection, this group created a sound unique to them, while smoothly paying homage to their influences. I mean if you have no idea then at least let me give you a pleasant intro:
