What would be on your dream compilation?

Hi. I love looking at compilation track lists and my heart usually skips a beat when I see songs I have been looking for show up on them..especially when they are the 12" versions..so I was wondering what would be on your dream compilation of, say, 18 tracks? I don't mean your fav tracks..the 18 you are most looking for..here are mine..

    1.Chuck Cissel "Cisselin Hot"
2.Brenda Harris "Makin Love keeps You Fit"
    3.El Coco "Love Exciter"
4.El Coco "Lets Get It Together"
    5.Asha Puthli "I'm Gonna Dance"
6.Gordene Simpson "Time To Dance" ?? dance theme from the movie "Prom Night"
    7.202 Machine "Rock Your Body"
    8.Liquid Gold "Substitute"
9.John Davis and the Monster Orchestra "The Magic Is You" (on that note, has there ever been a JDATMO best of cd???)
10.7th Wonder "Do It With Your Body"
    11.Kikrokos "Jungle DJ"
    12.Arpeggio "Saturday Night Breakout"
    13.Midnight Rhythm "Workin And Slavin"
    14.Grace Jones "On Your Knees"
    15.Simon Orchestra "Don't Give Up"
    16.Kat Mandu "The Break"
    17.Queen Samantha "Funky Celebration"
    18.Taana "When you Touch Me"

all would be full length versions and would have glossy information packed liner notes:icon_lol: I realise some of these would be easy to find but somehow I still don't manage to own these..so I would love to hear your compilation wishlist..

Anything by Gregg Diamond - This Side Of Midnight, Danger, Shinin', Paradise, etc.

    Plus
Blackwell - Boogie Down And Mess Around
    Madleen Kane - Boogie Talk
    Lipstique - At The Discotheque
    Lightning - Disco Symphony
    Japan - Life In Tokyo
    Bill Saluga - Dancin' Johnson
    Lydia - We Are One
    Money - Flying Lizards
    Devo - That's Good
    Pure Energy - Party On
    Bob McGilpin - Get Loose
Narada Michael Walden - I Shoulda Loved Ya
    Claudja Barry - Boogie Tonight
    Ann-Margret - Midnight Message
    France Joli - Playboy
St. Tropez - One More Minute
    & much more

Not that rare, and you can listen to most of these on YouTube, but it's always exciting to find stuff like this on a compilation cd.

I think I'd go with something I've never seen before (...yet) in a store:

A compilation of the superb hit tunes written and/or produced by Freddie Perren and Dino Fekaris for '70s acts such as the Sylvers, Gloria Gaynor, Tavares, David Naughton, etc.

THAT I would gladly put out for ......................................... bucks, that is. (get your minds out da gutter).

Well, firstly FranceJoli Fan some interesting choices. Some I didn't know. I'm kicking myself I actually saw "Starcruiser" by Gregg Diamond in a record store but this was when I didn't really know who he was, only that I liked the cover. 4 months later, and all youtubed up, I wish I had have got it...:icon_mad: still, I did buy "Horsemeat Disco" compilation which has the 5.30 vers of "Danger" on it..(did you know that??) but it sounds like a good cd!! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...SIN=B002BBFF4W

And Dr Love, yes, I too love the sound of Freddie and Dino, you know, I know its blantantly commercial, but I reckon "Shake Your Groove Thing" by Peaches and Herb is fantastic. It was one of the first disco songs I discovered and I love the 12" version. I had to laugh at you parting with your hard...earned cash for disco..:icon_lol: Meanwhile I (im)patiently wait for "Disco Discharge: Disco Ladies" to come in from my local record store...:icon_confused:

Cool. I didn't know about that. So I just looked up the track list. Would also be nice to have the cd for Gino Soccio's It’s Alright and TJM's Put Yourself In My Place.

Have you heard all of Gregg Diamond's Hardware album? I really like Greyhound Bus. Would like to see the album on cd.

I like the Freddie & Dino collaborations. I think Peaches & Herb's Roller Skatin' Mate gets overlooked. So fun and perky. But they really reached their peak on Anybody Wanna Party by Gloria Gaynor. Funky and sophisticated. Can't get enough of it.

I bought a compilation CD 9 years ago called 'The Best Disco Album In The Universe volume 8' on the Essex label which has a 6.48 version of Danger by Gregg Diamond. It's still available on Amazon.

My fave track's 'Eighth Of Your Love'. Also, 'Put Yourself In My Place' by TJM is on the 'Sounds Like 54' compilation cd on Smak records.

It's a needle-drop though, and not a particularly good one.

Yes, there is an audible click at 4.12 on the break, but I don't think it sounds bad, but I'm no expert. It sure beats alot of 2nd hand vinyl I've got!

The reason I said the UK is that I have noticed that the absolute BEST disco compilations all seem to be coming out of England (i.e.:Disco Discharge/ Love Boat Disco/HorseMeat Disco)... the US record companies always seem to be putting out the same-old same-old tunes:icon_evil::icon_evil::icon_evil:

There was one, but the sound quality was horrible, with most of the tracks being from REALLY BAD needle-drops.

Bionic Boogie's Hot Butterfly was issued on CD in Japan, although it was just the album, no bonus tracks. I've heard from people around here that it's due to be reissued with all the 12" versions soon.
