Here's some great Canadian Disco courtesy of the Black Light Orchestra, "Touch Me, Take Me" from 1977. Gotta love those swirling strings and that neat bassline! It's as if Cerrone and Costandinos had a stopover in Montreal and this record was the result.

One thing I truly appreciated about the whole disco era was the fact that Montreal was now taking chances and wasn't afraid to shoot for the moon. Before that - the mainly francophone artists wouldn't even entertain the idea of ever having an international career. The language barrier was there and it simply could not be done. Then - it became possible.
That's why artists like France Joli never even recorded in french...She didnt have to - she wanted an international hit and to be on the same charts as Donna Summer. The only time I ever heard Joli sing in french was on a talk-show when the host asked if she would.
Jacques Laflθche who arranged & performed on this Black Light Orchestra track (and all the other Scicente & Daigle-produced songs) was a well-known musical director on TV.He once mentioned that they listened to their favorite records then turned around and created their own version of whoever they had listened to.
They also helped to put Montreal on the map as far as quality disco is concerned.
