New disco book on Casablanca Records coming October 6.
AND PARTY EVERY DAY: THE INSIDE STORY OF CASABLANCA RECORDS will be released through Backbeat Books in October. Larry Harris who co-founded the infamous 1970s label, gives the reader over 300 pages of unrestricted front-row access to the wild excesses of the Casablanca experience. The book contains several previously unpublished 1970s images including a picture of the very room where a demo version of Donna Summer’s “Love To Love You Baby” (played at one of Casablanca’s near-nightly bacchanals) inspired label president Neil Bogart to implore Donna and disco visionary Giorgio Moroder to turn the song into a 17-minute epic.
AND PARTY EVERY DAY reveals how Casablanca Records became “the disco label,” almost single-handedly creating and growing the genre. The tell-all revels in detail, explaining exactly what it took to make and break Casablanca’s crown jewels; KISS, Donna Summer, Parliament Funkadelic, the Village People, Cher, and even the cult disco film Thank God It’s Friday. Never-before told stories about Casablanca’s many beloved disco artisans like Paul Jabara, Alec Costandinos/Love & Kisses, MECO and even Studio 54 pepper the amazing text that will have wishing you owned a time machine.
AND PARTY EVERY DAY: THE INSIDE STORY OF CASABLANCA RECORDS also contains the first complete Casablanca Records discography and a music video history. A plethora of previously unknown facts/trivia about the 1975-‘80 glory days of disco is unveiled. For instance, did you know Casablanca produced early music videos for Donna Summer’s “Love To Love You Baby” and Alec Costandinos’ 1977 club hit “Romeo And Juliet”? In the grand Casablanca tradition of excess and giving the fans exactly what they want, the author goes so far as to include the videos on the book’s Web site!
