Having just said I'm not a real rock fan (and what that means is, I don't dislike it, I just don't know it) I need some help.
I spotted a Coors Light commercial that has, I think, 4 different rock songs melded together over a mixed rhythm track. Commercial starts with party goers getting out of a taxi with someone singing in rap style:
WE CAME TO ROCK (repeat 2 more times)
WE CAME TO ROCK THIS PARTY ALL NIGHT LONG
Move indoors with people dancing and having a good time and a dj crew setting up carrying vinyl and, of course, Coors. The song:
SO YOU WANNA BE A ROCK 'N' ROLL STAR; A ROCK 'N' ROLL STAR; A ROCK 'N' ROLL STAR
Next shot is a female playing air guitar and the crowd bopping their heads in unison to the sound of:
I'M THE KING OF ROCK (of rock, of rock); I'M THE KING OF ROCK (of rock, of rock)
Lastly, and this is the killer track, the crowd is in full tilt boogie. Close up of a brother getting his groove on to:
HERE I AM, ROCK YOU LIKE A HURRICANE
This last song, even without the new drum track, I would go out and buy in a minute. Whoever is singing this has power. To me, this is hard rock at it's best. Strong vocals, great guitar work and a rhythm to work the body, not that head-trip 'acid' style I just can't relate to.
Any body have an clues who might be doing these songs? Am I right that it's four different groups or is it actually one? REALLY interested in "Hurricane".
Thanks,
Nicky
"Rock You Like A Hurricane" is by German metal/hard rock band The Scorpions, from their mid-80s "Love At First Bite" LP.
"So You Wanna Be A Rock & Roll Star" was originally done by The Byrds (1967) with a trumpet part by Hugh Masakela.
I think it's been redone by someone else for the commercial
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
Thanks, guys. Couldn't believe "Hurricane" is from '84. Then when I went to Amazon.com I had to laugh as all the reviews say how 'famous and overplayed' this anthem is. Almost 20 years later and I'm hearing it for the first time. Amazing... and a little  , too. Guess I have to diversify my music just a little bit more.
I definitely remember "Rock You Like A Hurricane", and that song was a huge hit for the Scorpions in 1984 (their biggest by far). That song was constantly played on the radio back then.
Would you believe --- Coors answers their email. :o They confirmed that Marky and Graham are correct with their selections of The Byrds and Scorpions, respectively. The other two songs are:
"King of Rock" by DMC (I think they mean Run-D.M.C.)
"Rock the Pary" by POD (never heard of these guys)
