FranceJoliFan, can you post a link to the tune, so we can check it out, too. Thanks !![]()
I'm training myself to post current song stuff in the Various Dance & House Music section (an under-utilized, but fulfilling category.)
But Madonna's new song, Celebration, seems to evoke so much early 80's dance music. Both Madonna's (Into The Groove) and other good songs of the 80's.
I just heard it yesterday. But like an obedient drone have listened to it about 30 times now. It's catchy as hell.
So I'm wondering, what do you think influenced Madonna in this? What pieces of other songs can you identify? (There's quite a few.)

thanks, FranceJoliFan, only listened to it once, (thus far), and I do like it alot. Didn't particularly recognize any song-influences in it, but that's just me. Might be glaringly obvious to others.
Just read on Billboard that this tune tops the Dance Chart Club-Play list (started in 1974), becoming her FORTIETH #1 tune on that chart.
Pretty freakin' incredible accomplishment.
Sounds a lot like standard Belgian Technopop, could have been a Regi Pinxten or Peter Luts production. (Lasgo, Milk Inc., Ian Van Dahl)
par exemple: YouTube - Lasgo - Something (Peter Luts Remix)
I hear some similarities. But this Peter Luts remix sounds a bit generic. Madonna always seems to have something extra that makes her songs stand out, even in the sparse arrangement in Celebration. Reminds me of Situation by Yaz/oo. And the beginning of Holiday (but more intense.) And lots of great hooks everywhere. I especially like when she refers to herself in the third person (a reference to when Justin Tumberlake says her name in Four Minutes?)
