You'd think that the music industry would just stick to one standard for naming instrumental mixes of vocal tracks on their singles or LPs. What various alternate indicators have you come across for the instrumental mix?
I've seen the song name with instrumental noted in brackets or underneath. Sometimes they've been referred to as Part 2, like with Rick Dees 'Disco Duck'. Renaming the song and even given different writing credit also has occurred, like Anthony White's I Can't Turn You Loose / Block Party. Sylvia Robinson would put something like 'You Sing' in front of the song title. Barry White liked to shorten or slightly alter the title of the song, like Can't Get Enough Of Your Love, Babe (vocal)/Just Not Enough (instrumental). The instrumental mix of Jimmy Ruffin's 'Tell Me What You Want' was called 'Jimmy's Theme'.
Any other unusual renamings of the instrumental mixes for vocal tracks?

The Italian word for "instrumental" is senza voce and it means "without voice"; some PWL productions use that name as a parallel of the other Italian word, a cappella, like Lonnie Gordon's "Happenin' All Over Again" or Princess' "After The Love Has Gone".

What about the Trammps "Zing Went the Strings of My Heart" with
the instrumental "Penguin at the Big Apple"? Or Northern End's "Happy Days" with "Tee's Happy" (after remixer Tee Scott)?

Sorry, I can't tell you, it's a secret!!
Just kidding, the track is found on the UK-only LP Love Is All We Need. It doesn't have any vocals on it, not even the backing vocals, so it's a pure instrumental.
This philly track is also on that 1975 LP. It features most of MFSB, except the drummer isn't Earl Young, Karl Chambers, Charles Collins, or any of the other philly regulars. I can't remember the first name, just that the last name was DiStefano. He plays it like the LUO/LA session drummer Ed Greene.

THE HORSE :icon_eek::icon_eek:
story is .....some radio DJ flipped this one over to the instrumental B side , played it
and then from then on the vocal version was never heard of again !!
Insult to injury ....credited artist Cliff Nobles didn't play an instrument and once you remove his vocals ....he isn't even on this song !!! :icon_lol:
ps ----- the musicians you do hear .... developing ones later to be a part of MFSB ....
