Thanks for posting these Bernie-I want all four, even though there are
some real head scratchers like two Double Discovery tracks on the same disc,Laura Brannigan "Self Control" is Eurodisco(?)and some missed opportunites. But that being said, the positives are plentiful like an
extended edit of "Makes You Blind",Gloria Jones"Bring on the Love",Rose Laurens"American Love",Easy Going"Fear"(let's hope it's the LP mix)Time Bandits "Live it Up",Peter Jacques"1,2,3"Cerrone's stunning "Look for Love"-all are not compilation repeats and some on CD for the first time. However you look at it,this was put together
with some love and care.

I just got this one in the mail yesterday and there is a mistake on the original press release. On disc two,it's not Double Discovery "Livin'Up To Love" but the group is actually Companion-I'm not sure if they are related or not.A few things:The "Makes You Blind"
edit is terrific and the sound quality has improved many of these tracks
especially ("Everybody)Get Dancin'" and Cerrone's "Look For Love"-I look forward to the next three sets.

"Living Up To Love" is by actually by USA-European Connection as I still have the original 12" vinyl from the 1980s: USA European Connection Living Up To Love (12"): Vinyl Records @ DiscoMusic.com . Not sure how it somehow now gets listed as by Companion.

Yep-it lists the writer as Boris Midney circa 1981-and I had no idea that
Double Discovery is also a Midney side project. Thanks Bernie.
I'm going to buy all four, but I'm waiting for the price to drop. Is the sound quality comparable to the Grand 12 inch series??? Are the cuts re-mastered from vinyl or master tapes???
Always looking for remastered 12\" versions on CD
Boris Midney as Companion recorded a version of "Livin Up To Love" on the LP in 1981. The USA-European Connection 12" came out in 1983.
Don't know which version is actually on the CD.
The Companion version is very stripped down, This LP was dismissed at the time but the version of "There's A Way"(Into My Heart) is really quite good, and "Step On Out" is one of my favorites from the Companion LP. It's also covered on the USA-European 12".
Hi Mrb-The liner notes don't list anything about mastering or mixing, but
I can't hear any vinyl signs like pops or clicks on the headphones. The Cerrone was the best I have ever heard same for the Bombers, but these
aren't on Grand 12 editions for me to compare.I know there are alot more
readers on the site who are more qualified to evaluate this stuff than me,but as a fan and someone who has listened to these tracks from different CD sources, they sound damn good!
Discokid-the time for Double Discovery is 8:43 and the Companion is 9:08-
if that helps at all.
I know that someone else posted that the Divas just came out last week too.
Thanks for the heads up on this series - I had not heard of it. Hopefully the sound quality will be in the "Grand 12 Inches" class, there are some gems in the track listing.
I have all sets now (well Gay Disco is in the mail)--for some reason I found sourced to buy them from amazon.ca quicker and easier than Amazon.com (got all of the first three sets for 15 bucks Canadian each).
The selection, and interesting the set ORDER--how each song sounds back to back--are near flawless. But the sound quality is likewise incredible. Mr Pinks, the compiler, notes how hard they worked to do the best quality possible, even baking the original masters-- Disco Delivery: Disco Discharge and Other Recent/Upcoming Disco Releases & Reissues there, in the comments section.
My one complaint, the linear notes are fabulous but I wish we had a listing of each song track by track with full writer/producer and chart credits.
I ordered all 4 sets about 10 days ago from Tower.com, since they advertised a "5 to 7 day delivery" on all 4. However, none have shipped yet. I can't wait to get these - I saw the above linked blog right after I placed my order, and it sounds like he wants to make this a recurring series. As long as the quality is there, I will support this series with my dollars, just like I support Ben Liebrand's work with the Grand 12 Inches series.
