Audio Software That Can Isolate Channels?

Has anyone heard of audio software that can isolate individual channels in the three separate tracks? I'm referring to left, middle, and right? The reason I ask this is that I heard about a bootleg of Beatles music that was created by using software that isolated the right, middle, and left channels. The only process I am aware of that isolates any channel is out of phasing, where you cancel out the middle by mixing one channel into the invert of the other (centre waveform then cancels out).
