If this mix was commonly used back in the day (west coast) ....I wasn't aware of it . If I indeed had heard it, I probably unwittingly credited the DJ with screwing around with the two songs on the spot..... ....

"So Long" / "Give Me Love" 6:31 RIO Records
bw "Summer Breeze" 4:32
By Harry Chalkitis, probably most famous for producing Queen Samantha.
There is also a RIO Records 12" single that has both songs seperate, one on each side.

Used to love to play this 12" back in the day...always kept the floor guessing!
I can't tell if you both tracks are extended, but here's roughly how the mix goes. The mix starts with "Midnight," which runs until about 2:20. It then segues into "Heartache," which runs until about 4:43, at which point it segues back into "Midnight." That runs until just about 7:02. It segues back into "Heartache," which takes it to the fade (which, at my timing, is closer to 10:35 as opposed to the 11:05 on the label).
Adding a couple extra details:
The songs are taken straight from the LP (from start-to-finish, the BEST Pete Bellotte production of them all)
and the mix was done like a Hot Tracks, or a DiscoNet.
The 2nd time "The Other Side of Midnight" comes in, MacDonald runs it with a 2-beat echo and uses the spliced-in reverse tape loop to transition out of "Heartache".

Does the RCA 12 inch with Odyssey mixed with Vicki Sue Robinson count? Easy Come Easy Go was mixed into Hold Tight.
Disco Funk
There is The Cover Boys-La La Peace Song/ Hang On In There Baby which came out in 1988 on Unidisc.
You got to bone it like you own it
I'm not sure I understand the question.....do you mean two separate songs by the same artist, or two separate songs, period? I've heard LOTS of remixes that had two (or more) separate songs mixed in. A local DJ took the hip-hoppy drum track from Chaka Khan's "I Feel For You" and for the first half on the track, laid the vocal from Prince's original on it. Then for the second half, he blended a couple of vocal lines from both versions....I thought it was brilliant. And the remixed version of "Girl You Know It's True" has a snippet of Bobby Brown's vocal hook from "Don't Be Cruel" mixed in. And so many rap tracks have more than one song mixed in that I can't even count them anymore.
And Cory ..... Trust me, It'd be a rare instance that rap records:icon_razz: would be a sought after response to my inquires here at discomusic.com ....
.
But ya TDK .....it just struck me that very few (disco) remixes incorporated more than one song as Wally did to liven up Marsha Hunt's OTHER SIDE OF MIDNIGHT by working in the strongly similar HEARTACHE
And it doesn't necessarily have to be the same artist . I think Disco Funk gets bonus points for coming up with this one -
Two Different songs AND by Two Different Artists !!

And how about this one .......:icon_confused::icon_confused: :icon_confused:
..... some non-USA versions list them as separate tunes .....
maybe partial credit ....
