Love Insurance by Front Page... Another Version?

I was going through my records and I only knew the version of Love Insurance by Front Page. But on one of my compilation CD there is a totally different version which kinda sounds the same but is nowhere as good as my vinyl. What gives here?

There were a couple of versions of 'Love Insurance' done in the 80s hi-nrg era by groups called Krukutz & Obsession which were both vastly inferior to the original by Front Page/Sharon Redd IMO. Bernie's your man regarding this track 'cos I'm sure I remember him saying that it's his fave disco track ever!

There is also a version on Unidisc that's a remixed version of the Front Page classic, and this time crediting Sharon Redd as the vocalist.
it has an '80's feel to it, and lacks the energy of the original.

Yes - that version was featured on Sharon's Love how you feel CD. It does lack energy.Nothing can touch the original Front Page version.

Re-recordings are often vastly inferior...give or take a few exceptions.

I've been singing the praises of "Love Insurance" by Front Page since I started this site back in 1996 even when others thought I was nuts. It's only when many started finding out the singer was Sharon Redd, did things start to turn around... or so I would like to think :-)

Rick Gianatos was the mixer on "Love Insurance" and in a discussion many, many years ago told me:

"Love Insurance" by Front Page. Although I have always loved Sharon Redd's voice, she never did anything for me on that song. I always have felt a
slightly more soulful performance (not a Martha Wash diva, but just a couple
of drops of warmth) would have added so much to that song.

Of course I was shocked to hear this especially from Rick, but he stood by that comment when I continued questioning him on it.

The late Greg Stone once told me that he also did a cover of "Love Insurance" that was only released in Mexico. Never heard it though. I'll stop rambling now.

I'm as shocked as you must have been to hear that Rick thought Sharon Redd could have added a bit more soul to her performance on "Love Insurance", this is one of those songs that can make me cry when I hear it!

Thanks all for your comments. The version I have on CD is a Sharron Redd version. I would never in a million years play that version since the Front Page version is so much better. I have a promo copy of the Front Page version. How rare is that nowadays?
