Hello Disco masters!
I came into disco music very recently! I just don't know a lot of songs like you guys, but let me tell you that i simply fell in love with this music!!
I managed to buy some "Best_Disco_Songs_Ever-like" CDs in the stores, which played some "giants" of disco like Donna Summer, Sylvester, Chic, The Gibson Brothers, KC & The S.Band, Jimmy 'Bo' Horne, and so others. I know the big hits from them. I play bass guitar since i was a kid, and I now started to learn those groove basslines!!
Well, my dad had some kind collection of vynils, most of them are rock-oriented. Buy in the bottom of the box I've finally found a disco vynil!! It's called "Foxy - Get Off". I believe it's a disco single, but i think I'll never get a chance to listen to it. My dad's collection is just that!
I wonder if someone could please tell me about Foxy. What's the story of this band? Is it this vynil rare? I don't know, but i do know that you know!!:icon_confused:
Sorry for my english
Thanks for reading!
Duke.

Foxy originally started as a high school band in the Miami area of Florida in the late 1970s. The record you have is not rare, but a classic that is still played to this day. Enjoy!

I had no idea! wow!
Is Foxy a One.Hit.Wonder?
Ish Ledesma of Foxy later went on to create Company B, who had a big Freestyle hit in the 80s with the song "Fascinated".
I don't know about how many hits they had. There were a couple of notable tunes, namely 'Get Off Your Ahhh And Dance' and 'Get Off', but they had some other nice tracks along the way. I like Teena's Song because it's got an unusual feel to it, kind of like a fusion of soul and 30s and 40s swing.
Here's Ish talking about what motivated him write 'Get Off'

Yeah, it was a cool story. This is from Ish's youtube account. Ironically, he posted stuff on their from Foxy, but the audio was removed by Warner Music because of infringement of copyright. Isn't that ironic or just plain sad?

I have "Lets Be Bad Tonight - The Very Best of Foxy" on order..looking forward to this 2005 EMI cd. According to AMG, "Hot Numbers" was their second biggest single peaking at No.21 in the US in 1979. I also love "Chicapon" and "Get Off Your Aah and Dance" which I have on a TK disco complilation record "Disco Party"...looking forward to cd quality though..:icon_cool:
I've always been a fan of "The Way You Do The Things You Do".
And I've yet to see it included on any FOXY LP.

Whilst watching that clip of Ish I thought how odd that somebody could be so offended by a group going ooah ooah, but I found myself really annoyed by the jazz music in the background of that clip, so maybe I'm nearly as odd as that club owner in Maryland!:icon_mrgreen:
...ya gotta beat the street......
Foxy was technically not a one hit wonder...they had a second top 40 pop hit with "Hot Number". But I still remember a story about the group that Casey Kasem told on his "American top 40" radio show. He said that while "Get Off" was a big hit, Ish was driving past an elementary school one day and heard a group of VERY young children, pre-teens, singing the song's title hook. He said it bothered him SO MUCH to hear a group of young kids singing such a sexually suggestive lyric (even though he wrote it) that he broke up the band and said he'd never play the song again. Too bad, but maybe not after all if that's what prompted him to become a writer/producer and create the Company B classic "Fascinated", a song that STILL gets my anemic blood pumpin' even after all these years.
