Thumbs up Ecstatic You Say? -> Vince Montana Jr.

In the continuity of Mister Montana Himself.

A must hear, a must buy.

This "Philly Sound" "Post-Disco" hit made me fall off my chair. Really

...Simply exquisite sound experience for anyone who has the chance to listen to the versions contained on this 2005 vinyl (preferably onto a high power sound system :icon_cool:).

Sweet from the first to the last note.

I found out about this nice track on the Spirit Of Philadelphia Vol. 2 compilation. They threw it on there even though it wasn't from the 70s, but it was a nice addition.

I don't think I bought the vinyl or tried to. I did download it and it's various remixes from iTunes. I was hoping that a CD version would be released, but I don't think that's going to happen.

Montana also did a recent tune with Double Exposure, same old school vibe, with a hint of Ten Percent thrown in.

Agreed... Excellent return to the basics from someone who knows and not just someone trying to re-create a retro vibe. Vince Montana is a class act.

Would love it if you could post a review on that page so that others can be helped. Thanks.

Nice interview Bernie! I don't think I read it before, maybe years ago if I did. Interesting he mentions that Kenny Present did most of the mixing for his work at Salsoul. I think Tom Moulton only did selected stuff. Kenny was the engineer at Sigma if I'm not mistaken. I would like to have known if Kenny was just left alone to do the mixing and editing of the cuts, or if Montana sat in on the sessions, and Kenny just operated the faders and such?

Any chance of a follow-up interview? I'd love to ask him about more obscure philly stuff he did outside of Salsoul and PIR.

Damn Disco Funk, You read my mind... I was just thinking out loud if I should do a follow up. I went to Vince's home last year, but it was only for a few hours. If I do a followup I'll ask for questions from you guys here.
