Been wanting to know for a long time...

There are two songs on this mix that I have always wanted to add to my collection but never knew the title or artist.

    http://www.deephousepage.com/media/patterson.ram

I don't know if the link will work directly, but that is definitely the address.

The first song starts at the 50:13 mark and ends at about the 53:10 mark. It is not the main tune but being mixed in the background. The hook line is "I knew a girl".

The second song starts at about the 55:50 mark and goes through the 1:00:30 mark. It is the main tune for a god portion of that time and the hook is "I gotta release the tension".

If anyone can identify both these songs for me I would be extremely grateful....

Well the clip that plays seems to be 28:50 long, so I can't listen to tracks at 50:13 or 55:50!

But the "I gotta release the tension" vocal line is in Circuit's "Release The Tension" - YouTube - Circuit - Release The Tension
and a later version that I prefer by J A Groove "Release The Tension" - YouTube - J A Groove - Release The Tension - Studio Rec.
J A Groove version has a great dub version too.

You'd probably have a better chance to ID the tunes if you could upload clips of the tunes you want to www.zshare.net or similar.

    I appreciate your response.
I will try to figure out how to do the Z-Share thingy so I can actually post the entire mix.

That is the song (Tension - Circuit), but the version being played on the mix sounds like the Colonel Abrams on vocals version. All these years I thought it was the Colonel, but could never find a copy of it to prove it. The YouTube thread you sent bears witness to it's existence....

I will get back with the 1st song on a different thread...
    Again, Thanks.

Re: Been wanting to know for a long time...

Happy to help, had a feeling it could be the song.

Well it looks like Colonel Abrams version exists, but was never released at the time, but it seems to have ended up on this white label 12" at some point. Colonel Abrams - You Got Me Running / Release The Tension (12", W/Lbl) at Discogs

...and if you can post just the section of the mix with the tune you want identified, you'll probably get a better response by do that, rather than posting the whole mix for people to download and listen through.

Try the one above at the time listed for the 1st cut since you have already identified the 2nd cut. it starts at the 50:13 mark..

    Thanks for any help.
