Pattie Brooks Casablanca LPs coming to CD

    No cheesy Russian CDs.
    No imports mastered from vinyl.

    PURE UNADULTERATED MASTER TAPE QUALITY.
    LOVE SHOOK
    OUR MISS BROOKS
Two of the most requested and beloved (AND MISSING FROM CD) albums from Pattie Brooks most well-known Casablanca Days.
Funky Town Grooves | Pattie Brooks - Love Shook & Our Ms Brooks - 2 LP on 1 CD

Greatly helping out on this release in varying phases are three trusted Disco Music.Com members. My ego tells me I could have done it myself. But my sense of community and good sense to go the experts trumped all of that. I'll let things unfold and what did what to whom (did that come out right?) will be apparent. But it's the right people that I'm leaning on for help- not the industry approved over-exposed list of names. So a hearty thank you to ANYBODY who ever posted on a Pattie Brooks post here.
You only made it easier for me to go "Look at THIS" while doing my sell job to my label bosses.

I only hope at the end of the day- that you like our presentation, and support us by pre-ordering the CDs. You will receive your copies before distributors and stores or any reviewers. Remember to look around our website at other product and see what we are trying to do? All listings have sound samples. Funky Town Grooves | Rare 80s Soul, Funk, Jazz & Hip Hop

If you think that this means that some more classic Disco Music will be coming? You got THAT RIGHT~!! We've already done some later day Disco Music, but this project and our Paul Simpson retrospective- puts us "Smack Dab In The Middle" (Oh yeah, we're doing Janice McClain too~!) of the Disco Music scene where we are proud to be.
Funky Town Grooves | Paul Simpson - Biography

Did I mention the Tommy Stewart productions CD filled with rare 12" disco? What was I thinking?

Re: Pattie Brooks Casablanca LPs coming to CD

Thank you for the heads up! I'm definitely interested in the Tommy Stewart CD. I didn't know he had worked on the Something About You track by Moses, which I believe was on Cocktail Disco by Dimitri From Paris. I'll definitely be getting that Moses Davis CD that the same website you linked is selling.

I've also got his Bump & Hustle Music CD, which unfortunately didn't include that 11 minute version of the title track that has been popping up on bootleg 12 inches in the last decade and a half. Spirit of Atlanta's Burning of Atlanta LP was released by Unidisc in the 90s, so I bought that, mainly for the breakbeat anthem Freddie Is Alive And Well.

I will also look forward to the Patti Brooks CD. From the looks of the listing, it doesn't appear it will have any 12 inch mixes, if there were alternate mixes for those two LPs.

Tommy Stewart both wrote and arranged the song~! We've got some REALLY FANTASTIC Liner Notes on our Tommy Stewart package (written by Kevin Goins), that are very revelatory as to the relationship between Tommy Stewart and executive producer (and sometime songwriter) Marlin McNichols. Think Jam & Lewis and Clarence Avant and you will have an idea of the importance and musical quality.

    Thanks for the purchase!

I just can't be the only one wondering: if anyone wants to re-issue Casablanca titles on CD, why would they start with Patti Brooks? My goodness: I sure would have started with Alec Costandinos' albums (under his name and all his various studio groups), then all the Giorgio Moroder albums, then all the hard and impossible to find Casablanca movie soundtracks, the missing Donna Summer titles, maybe then Cher and lots of the other one-offs (like Wright Bros Flying Machine, Liquid Gold, Patrick Juvet, Paul Jabara, on and on and on). I enjoy Brooks' albums but it seems a very odd place to start.

Thankyou Donald! I just ordered my copy-can't wait. This is one of my favorite disco LP's(Love Shook) and it is a fabulous release that had 4 hit singles.
As a complete LP,Love Shook's dance chart success was a rarity in that
every song charted individually-besides the Donna Summer releases, you
won't find alot of examples of this happening not only on Casablanca
but in general. This is such exciting news for us fans-I am thrilled there
will be more future releases.Wish list #1-Theo Vaness/Bad,BadBoy

You have to "start" somewhere. It Doesn't mean that you END there.

Be patient- a lot of what you want to happen, I do too. But we are not running a Return To Casablanca Charity CD company- if you get my drift.

Hang on in there Cory, MORE Good stuff will happen unless we go bankrupt.
And even then- SHOUT UK! has started doing Casablanca reissues and they started with two RANDY BROWN lp's. And it KILLS me....'cause I wanted to do those two records! But I'm happy that they are out with the promise of more to come.

As a fan I'm excited! As a producer I'm excited~! And very, VERY happy that we "started" with Pattie Brooks.

We put out stuff from different labels. Reissue labels are not beholden to one label (Unless they want to be).
The correct label to address YOUR concerns to is Universal who OWNS most of the music you want.

That Theo Vaness is the property of Unidisc. A great, great album. Tell you what album I want from Unidisc that they seem to have NO interest in...the very first PRELUDE album:
Camouflage featuring Mysti- A Disco Symphony.

Man, I love that LP......it reminds me of the very best elements of the Stratavarious LP. That solid symphonic soul with a nice disco swing and solid soulful vocals. I'd be happy if Erik from Unidisc who er, ummm, er, uh posts here from time to time (cough, cough) read this and put it out himself- as long as it gets out!

If the talented (but for now) unidentified board member (s) has her/his way...the notes will be DYNAMITE! And I have nothing but sheer admiration for this persons talent and judgement. You'll see........:icon_mrgreen::icon_mrgreen::icon_mrgre en:

Please, please tell your friends. See, the way things are now we are in an ever shrinking pool of people willing to pay for CDs. The lure of the free, coupled with our (justified) resentment towards the majors for holding onto things like this for decades has produced a very unique- not exactly sales friendly atmosphere. We have 3 employees. Well, 3 that I know about anyway (I'm not the boss), and I can tell you we literally roll the income from one set of CDs into the other. So....we have been lucky. We have hit certain economic markers and thru the kindness of relationships and people like you who spend MONEY on CDs- and seem to like our "cult"/boutique type choices we are still going. These next few releases are going to be crucial to us doing more. And, quite frankly staying in business.

I can tell you this without giving too much away (because everything has not cleared yet) fans of The MONSTER, will BOOGIE to their shops. Will we sustain CASHFLOW? PLEASURE ISLAND if so, for us anyway......We'll just be KEEPING TIME until then.

    Hey Donald,

I just realized there was an artist missing from the CD that Tommy Stewart produced. They recorded Get Off Your Seat & Jam, which Tommy re-recorded for his LP, and they also did Power Play, which featured the same melody as Get off Your Seat. Was there a reason they were omitted? Also, will there be a Vol. 2 on which they'll appear?

    Disco Funk
    omit (ō mit)

transitive verb omitted omit′·ted, omitting omit′·ting
    1. to fail to include; leave out
    2. to fail to do; neglect
    3. Obsolete
      1. to take no notice of
      2. to let go

    Omitted?

Do you have any idea how many Tommy Stewart songs there are to choose from? OMITTED?

    I "OMITTED" a LOT, then.

Not just South-Side Coalition, but Loleatta Holloway and Eddie Kendricks.

But see, I wanted to use songs that Tommy wrote or produced. Sometimes BOTH. Not just "arranged by". Most tracks I got the TRIFECTA. Tommy is PLAYING on them too.

The disc is nearly 80 minutes long. Not room to put anything else.

Creatively, I wanted a volume 2 at one point.
    I'll pass.

And I'll leave it at that.
