A song that has a similar style to "How Long" by Ace

    Hello,

I have been trying to find this one song for awhile now, but unfortunately I was unable to catch the lyrics the one time that I heard it. I have a snippet of the melody memorized, and so I was wondering if someone would be able to ID this song if I just hummed it. The last two words of the line sound like "at all", and it's sort of a slow hustle song. The style sounds a touch like the song "How Long" by Ace.

Thank you so much in advance.

Hi to Canada, your're looking for an Ace-Like song, which I suppose must not be disco. The first notes remind me of Bruce Hornsby "Mandolin Rain", Bruce sounds like Carrack, the singer of Ace. Regards from Germany

The song "How long" is from 1976/1977. There is a song called "In no time at all" from 1978/1979. The singer is Ronnie Milsap. The coincidence is the phrase "at all" that you mentioned. Maybe I'm completely wrong - maybe not!

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately, these aren't the songs that I am looking for.

The song is most definitely a hustle-like song. It feels very 70s/80s, and it really sucks that I couldn't catch more of the lyrics.

    I'll keep looking. Thank you!

At the risk of stating the obvious.... I take it you have discounted the Disco version of How Long by Lipps Inc.

No, that's not it. Ironically, the original Ace version bears more resemblance.

I did think of this one today as it kind of fits in with the Ace style... Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel "Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me)"

Inch by Inch by Persia on Casablanca strikes a chord that it feels a bit like it.

How about Don't Stop by Ish of Foxy/Company B fame..

What about Steely Dan's "Hey Nineteen"?

No we can't dance together, no we can't talk (at all).

Sorry, I think I'm way off.
