Hi Guys and Gals,
I was mulling over this question myself recently, and the thread on Casablanca's first 12" prompted me to start a thread, as it is puzzling to work out what was accepted as Disco 12" discs - we had one-sided 12" disco discs, we had 12" disco discs with two different tracks on one side, we had one track per side 12" disco discs, and we had what were basically EP's or one side of an LP 12" 's, we also had the Prelude type two x 12" Promo only singles which were basically an LP 'made' into a disco format for dj's.
We also had extended, and edited versions of tracks released on 12" 'single' formats - with text stating for dj's only, or for radio programming only. All of the above is classed as Disco Discs.
There really was a hotch potch of product all vying for attention in the early days........![]()
And like I said on the other thread, some LP's are not long playing at all . Another example: the "High Fly (Poporompompo)" album by Difference (Baby Records, 1979); 24 minutes only:
A1 High Fly (Poporompompo) (4:15)
A2 Searchin (4:20)
A3 Searchin (4:02)
B1 Tell Me (5:10)
B2 Walkin Same Way (3:30)
B3 Shake That Groovy Thing (3:15)
