Sylvie Vartan covers

French singer Sylvie Vartan (big star of the 60's) did some disco numbers in the 70's. Usually they were covers translated in French. Do anybody knows the original version of the first one called "Georges" ["George (disco tango)" in English]? Thanks in advance.

Other ones are:

"Ne pars pas comme ça" ("Don't leave me this way"):

"Disco queen" (Claudja Barry's "Johnny Jonhnny please come home"):

In 1979 she sang in English "I Don't Want The Night To End"

Even if she's not a very good singer and cold on stage, she managed to be an icon in France (contrary to Sheila [B. Devotion], who had more or less the same career, style and flaws).

I had never heard this track done by Sylvie Vartan.Of course here in Quebec - many Vartan tracks were covered by our very own Michele Richard - who also ended up covering Donna Summer (you don't wanna hear her very limp french version of Hot Stuff !!),Peaches & Herb and Barry Manilow.

Funny how aside from a few hits here & there - Vartan never really made it big in french Canada...though J'ai un probleme - Her duet with Johnny was huge here.

a comeback in 1977 disco number George disco tango (Part I)(T.Strasser/Pat Simon/C.Hall), released on the Atlantic label, which she sang in English.

Thanks for the info. Knowing the name of the singer I found the sentence "the so-bad-it's -almost-good disco number George*disco tango"

. But the record seems pretty hard to find.

I was told time and time again that Ms. Vartan also covered "Savin' Myself", but I never heard it...

Good for you !!

I'm all for that !!! I don't hate Michele - she is an icon !

Problem is Ms.Richard is so out there here - and always on the cover of local magazines & newspapers at 63 and not for her singing talent !! - that it's hard to imagine her as a "singer" !!

That said - she was my mom's favorite !! :icon_mrgreen:
