Probably time to start a new electro thread...

Not sure if anyone here has come across the "Disco Not Disco" and "Disco Not Disco 2" compilations. The sleevenotes from the latter describe the included songs as being by "a select band of electronic pioneers who made up their own rulebook as technology jumped forward in the early 80s."

The tracklisting is

Laid Back - White Horse (1984)
Alexander Robotnik - Problemes Damour (1983)
Yello - Bostich (1980)
Can - Aspectacle (Holger Czukay Edit) (1978)
Material - Ciguri (1985)
Connie Case - Get Down (1982)
The Coach House Rhythm Section - Timewarp (1977)
Arthur Russell - Let's Go Swimming (1986)
Barry Waite & Ltd. - Sting (Part One) (1974)
Lex - Fourteen Days (1983)
The Clash - This Is Radio Clash (1981)

All of these tracks apart from Laid Back were new to me when I bought this CD. I'd be interested in opinions on any of them. The Connie Case and Coach House Rhythm Section tracks, in particular, to me, should definitely be regarded as early electro.

Though not obviously as "electro"-oriented as Volume 2, here's the track listing of "Disco Not Disco":

Yoko Ono - Walking On Thin Ice (1981 Re-edit) (7:20)
Liquid Liquid - Cavern (5:21)
Loose Joints - Tell You (Today) (Vocal) (7:02)
Ian Dury & The Seven Seas Players - Spasticus Autisticus (Version) (6:59)
Material - Over and Over (Long Version) (5:39)
Was (Not Was) - Wheel Me Out (7:09)
Dinosaur - Kiss Me Again (Original Edit) (6:52)
Don Cherry - I Walk (3:13)
Common Sense - Voices Inside My Head (6:33)
Indian Ocean - Scholl Bell / Tree House (Part 1) (6:56)
Steve Miller Band - Macho City (16:26)
