Songs I didn't appreciate then, but do now

Either because I was too young to understand the lyrics, too unsophisticated at the time to "get" the music, or just because my tastes have changed, there are some songs that I really didn't like back in the day, but appreciate now.

    Some would be:

    "Low Down" by Boz Skaggs
    "Cherche la Femme"
"Walk Away from Love" David Ruffin
    "Miss You" by Rolling Stones

    Anybody else?

For me, it would have to be all the early-80's Prelude releases.
I was so wrapped-up in EuroDisco at the time, that I never gave myself the chance to really listen to, understand and appreciate all the elements of, what was called "Street Jazz", by artists like D-Train.

    Hot Shot - Karen Young
Ain't That Enough For You - John Davis
Givin' Up, Givin' In - Three Degrees
Love Is In You - Nightlife Unlimited
    Ma Baker - Boney M
    Instant Love - Sylvia Love

And one that I kinda liked back then, but really like now is

    1979, It's Dancing Time - Revanche

This is my favorite of all the Chic-inspired songs. Yet it goes off in all sorts of crazy directions. Very dynamic. Hooks you from the first note. Keeps your interest with horns, synthesizers, a sax solo. And vocals by Jocelyn Brown.

Mainly rock/pop stuff that at the time I dismissed for not being disco/funk but now really enjoy listening to such as A-ha, Kate Bush, Little River Band, Simple Minds, Blancmange, Wings, Joe Jackson & the Carpenters. I'm so much more broad-minded now that I'm older. I wish I appreciated at the time how good music was in the 70s /80s (all genres, not just dicso); I thought it would be around forever & I was wrong.

Regarding disco : The whole Rinder & Lewis catalogue...no doubt.I dismissed so much of their stuff in the past - but now I'm like an addict.

And I've now become a Beatles fanatic after I bought the Love album and watched Across the universe on DVD.

I'm sure this track was the prototype for 'Lovers Holiday' by Change.

For me it's songs I like a lot more now than I did then. Two that immediately come to mind are "Take Me Home" and "Souvenirs."

I think you're right. It almost sounds like a lost cut from Change's first album. A cross between Lover's Holiday and Angel In My Pocket.

Crystal & The Team - Sooner Or Later (I'm Gonna Be The One). I use to think it was an anti-climax mixing this song with "(won't you) dance with me". Now I think it's perfect!
