I love this intro so much & it's exactly a minute long.

This might be a little ambiguous considering single edits/album cuts/12" mixes and blending, but...
What song, when you hear the first few seconds, makes your heart jump, your skin go goose-pimply, makes you jump out of your seat or takes you back to the day? What song immediately screams DISCO from the speakers? :icon_biggrin:
I'm sure there are more, but the one that always grabs me is "Turn The Beat Around" by Vicki Sue Robinson. (and yes, that song has always been dark blue to me - I get color images with words and numbers) The twitchy guitar scratch accompanied by sparse drums... and then all at once the bass, the drums, the horns and the strings all come in as a unified force for that riff that is unmistakeably made to get you on the floor. TTBA is a great song overall, but I don't really think it gets any better than the intro, where the song goes from "Toto, I don't think were in funk anymore" to "Oh no... You're in the land of the Disco people."
So, what are yours? Show your work.

My favourite intros would be two classic ones: "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" and "Love Hangover".
the lengthy intro to the 12" mix of "Shine On Silver Moon" (Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis, Jr.). It's like aural caviar !!!
Totally agree tdk.![]()
That's the one I was gonna mention also! Some people think it's a waste of time--but I like to think of it as an elegant overture to the dance music that begins right after the last note is played. Then the churning rhythm propels you straight to the dance floor!![]()
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
Okay... Here's one from waaay-out in left field...
The traditional-vocal intro for Claudja Barry's Disco version of Harry Belafonte's "Day-O (the banana boat song)". It may be on an LP...I don't know for sure. But I have it on the flip side of the Canadian / Polydor 12" of "Radio Action".
Seriously... It's not even "camp", which one would probably expect, in a remake of this particular song. She belts it out perfectly!![]()
