I've read that she passed away a while ago, overdose, she was coke, heroin addicted.

No need to take drugs to enjoy life.

By the way another great disco artist that I know who died in late 80's was Sharon Redd.

MADLEEN KANE was a fascinating star and still

a big hit at the DISCO-HEAVEN in Vienna.

("Forbidden Love!"), but I didn´t know that

she died. She released three pure Disco-LP´s

    "Rough Diamond"(1978)

    "Cheri"(1979)

    "Sounds Of Love"(1980)

Then Giorgio Moroder made some tracks and an

    album with her...this crazy dance-rock-styled

"Playing For Time" and "You Can".

Before her music-career she was modelling and

a friend of CAROLINE OF MONACO...these are

    only rumours.

SHARON REDD was very important for the

    Chicago WareHOUSEMovement and I´ve heard

that she died on AIDS. I really love her

"In The Name Of Love" especially the Disconet

    Remix.

I've heard the AIDS thing before, but many years ago I was told by someone who knew Sharon well that she had died in 1994 due to a staph infection. She had performed on stage at an outdoor show in her bare feet and stepped on a piece of glass from a broken beer bottle. She never bothered to properly take care of it until it was too late.

It's quite possible this was a story to cover up AIDS..., but I have no idea as to which is true. If anyone knows for sure please pipe in.

My favourite song by Sharon Redd is Front Page's "Love Insurance." Even though many don't care for the song or make a big deal out of it, it goes down as one of my faves and a near perfect song. I've been plugging this song to anyone who would listen since I began this site.

Are you guys sure Madleen Kane died? I never heard this and I just did a google search and found nothing.

As for Sharon Redd--I always heard she died of AIDS. Now since Sharon was a lesbian--the way I always heard she contracted the virus was through sharing needles. I can't verify that, however.

Remember Penny Ford from Snap!? She was Sharon's sister and had her own cd out in the early '90's with a cover of Aretha's "Daydreaming" and another cut where she sounded like Randy Crawford "I'll Be There" ( not the Jackson 5 tune). I guess Penny was the vocalist on "The Power" as well as the co-writer. Now that's one of the more memorable dance tunes from the early '90's.

Sharon Redd was a lesbian? I'd never heard that before, Marky, but I also heard that she contracted HIV through using IV drugs. What a tragic loss of a great voice! "Love Insurance" and "In the Name of Love" are two of my all-time favorites, and her third (?) album had another great track on it called "You're a Winner."

Yep, Sharon was a lesbian and also a former Harlette with the Divine Miss M. (along with Ula Hedwig, Charlotte Crossely, Jenifer Lewis, and one we also rep--Miss Linda Hart--currently negotiating to play the Debbie Harry role in the Broadway version of "Hairspray" starring Harvey Fierstein in the Divine role.

Sorry to be such a name dropper! Or maybe I should say...what's their name dropper?!!!

We rep a lot of those "Oh , that guy" kind of people ...ya gotta see their photos--name recognition doesn't always do the trick.

Couldn't agree with you more Bernie.I remember purchasing the 12" Love Insurance and thinking what a great sounding tune and voice.Sadly it never made it real big.Still have it and will put on the turntable tonight.
