"Watching You" - Slave vs "Inside Out" - Odessy

This is for those who may know the answer:

For us Older Heads who remember when these two CUTS came out back in '80 or '81, we recoginzed how SIMILIAR they sounded right away!

I believe "Watching You" came out first, but tell me this. Did Steve Arrington have any influence or input with Odessey when they made "Inside Out"???:icon_confused:

Because I swear to GOD, it sounds just like the EXACT SAME BASS PLAYER in both records!!!

I don't remember where I read it, but I think both tracks either used the same backing track or Inside Out was replayed by Slave. They definitely are connected. Maybe someone might have written about it on youtube or wiki.

I do remember Odyssey's version came out first, or if not, it was definitely heard by me first. THEN I heard Slave and I said 'WTF?' I was 13 at the time and even then I thought Steve Arrington owed the former group their royalties! I do not know the outcome of both of the songs in the long run but ever since hearing the first five seconds of each intro I couldn't tell which group was playing on the radio. Sometimes even now with my own mp3 player, I STILL CAN'T!

    Both Tracks Mixed Together....

YouTube - Inside Out Vs. Watching You

Rather spookily, the person who posted the mix on youtube uses the name 'Uncle Bernie'.

If my memory serves me correctly
the producer was Jimmy Douglass on BOTH tracks.
    That would be the connection.
