    Disco of the 21st Century

    Ok...here's an exercise.

If you were to compile a "Best of" CD for the survival of the DISCO SOUND into the new century, what hits would you include? For instance, my nomination would have to include the latest release: Shena's "Can't Stop the Rain." But what would you include, if you were to reach back to January of 2000 (I know...technically, the century didn't begin until 2001, but I don't want to wait until next year to post this!) and pull out the best retro/throwback songs of the new century?

Oh, and don't limit your choices to just one. I was using Shena as an example. Also...don't worry how many CDs this box set will include! ;) It can be as big and expensive as you'd like! Just make sure your contributions really capture that DISCO SOUND! :icon_mrgreen:

don't know if too, too much from this decade counts as disco, but for starters, I'd include "On A Night Like This" by Kylie Minogue (2000). I think it would've been an excellent candidate for a Tom Moulton treatment back in the day.

    Disco of the 21st Century

Let's face it, any track using familiar disco samples like Gary's Gang, etc shouldn't be accounted, creativity should be considered for this 21th century compilation.
David Guetta is worth watching . . .

If you buy this record your life, will be better.

There's only one group is making REAL disco nowadays!

    MILLION DOLLAR ORCHESTRA

    Very talented group.

I haven't met someone yet, who doesn't like them! :icon_lol:

This is one track from the last decade that I do really love & I'm sure it doesn't sample anything! For me it almost captures that late 70s disco feel with the strong melody, party atmosphere, amazing bassline, 4/4 beat, 'disco chix' & 'dancing strings' (OK, maybe not real ones but...)

YouTube - On a night like this- Kylie Minogue
& especially so with the Bini & Martini mix that uses Shalamar's "Right in the Socket" underneath...works so well imo:

First off, I'd like to nominate "Drama", a storming turbo-charged disco-tinged no. from about 4-5 years back that had me chucking myself about underneath the discoballs in Vauxhall on many a Saturday night:

YouTube - Drama - DJ Rhythm presents Soul Theory (Warren Clarke mix)

& this great track from around the same time:

YouTube - How did you know (77 Strings) - Mantronix presents Chamonix

but my favourite of recent times would have to be Dirty Old Ann, that fab 3 Degrees sample, the wonderful Kathy Brown giving it all she's got & the funky licks throughout..never fails to get me on the dancefloor:
