Aye tumbaye
Can anyone tell me about Les Tumbaye - AYE TUMBAYE. I know what I can find around the net but does anyone have this and can you tell me the type of sound? Has anyone seen it on CD? This may just be the hardest record to find...at least for me:icon_twisted:.
Thanks,
Max

Re: Aye tumbaye
I got it on a Barclay France 45--it only runs 2:36. The best way I can describe the sound is Afro-Caribbean...kind of like "A.I.E. A Mwana," but a bit more of an island sound. Male lead vocals, with a female chorus chanting "Aye Tumbaye" in the background. About 124 BPM. It's charming enough...but to me it sounds more like a novelty than a real floor-filler.

Re: Aye tumbaye
Thank you. I don't beleive we will find many floor fillers that we all don't know about already. So that leaves us with novelties. Funny you mentioned it sounding like A.I.E. A Mwana since I happen to love this track. Anyway, thank you for the info:icon_lol:

Re: Aye tumbaye
"Aye Tumbaye" has certainly filled many a floor recently hereabouts :-). Try it with David Martal's "Tamba" , the "A.I.E" /Black Blood stuff, some choice Afric Simone titles or, especially, with Lisette Malidor's giggling afrocabaret showdisco tune "Pas Touche". The (campier) kids will love it.
"I don't beleive we will find many floor fillers that we all don't know about already" - yeah? Do check out place's like PlattenPedro (Berlin), Mosebacka Records(Stockholm), WahWah and Edison's (Barcelona), Redhill Records(Helsinki) etc - "there are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio..."
