I've always thought that 'Im a Man' by Macho sounds very like Kongas' version of 'Gimme Some Lovin' so that doesn't surprise me at all.
Unbelievable for me untill I read this story :
From this GREAT compilation with 18 pages telling you all you've ever wanted to know about the Malavasi/Romani/Goody Music Story....
Buy this CD not only for the Music but also for the full story of Goody Music/Jacques Fred Petrus !!!

...ya gotta beat the street......
Nice collection indeed but too many edits :icon_mad:.
Uh huh...:icon_confused:
I've come across a few selective passages from this Petrus love-fest, popping-up on various sites. He (or, whomever is writing this stuff) has given Petrus credit for, practically everything, even remotely connected to Goody Music.
And considering the blatant manipulations of fact and time-frame (which would go unnoticed by the masses who didn't follow Goody Music, from the start)... I'd say it's Petrus who's copying Cerrone. By way of re-writing the past, to fit the current self-promotion.
This is, in no way, a reflection on the music. Simply an observation of the text.
"MUSIC IS AN EMOTION, SEARCHING FOR IT'S VOICE"
...come with me, "BACK TO MUSIC", on DISCOTERIA

For instance those are cheaply edited lp versions (and not single edits: just the lp version shortened to fit on a cd):
Macho - I'm A Man 5'51
Peter Jacques Band - Walking On Music 5'23
Peter Jacques Band - Fire Night Dance 6'29
Revanche - You Get High In N.Y.C. 5'19
Change - The Glow Of Love 5'31 (40 seconds missing!)
Change - A lover's Holiday 4'52
Firefly - Love Is Gonna Be On Your Side is ok : 7'06
Generally Italian compilations are not made with care, mainly because pop/rock music in English is not taken really seriously. It happens in many European countries: the foreign language is the main reason (in the pop area, Mauro Malavasi is remembered in Italy essentially as the producer of Tony Esposito's "Kalimba de luna" in 1984) but the fact that this is not considered serious music like classical music, specially opera, is another factor (Mauro Malavasi is now much more recognised for being the producer behind semi-opera singers Andrea Bocelli and Karine Carusi). The other reason, in this particular case, is also that Jacques Fred Petrus was a notorious swindler, not exactly a music man :icon_biggrin:, and his legacy is now in questionable hands of "some" people more interested in money issues than disco music history.
Thanks Pierre-Some of those are shortened more than I
would like-Thanks for the heads up

If you like Malavasi/Petru work....
Here a new and VERY interesting interview of Paul Slade from my friend Francis
Paul Slade - www.jacquespetrus.com
Wow ysl, I found that most enlightening. Mr. Slade sounds very nice & honest & has had to learn some tough lessons. I never realised that the Slade who co-wrote 'I Need a Man' was the same one who wrote those numerous lrics for the JFP productions.
...ya gotta beat the street......
this interview with Paul Slade is one of the best I've ever read! The questions are extremely intelligent and you can tell they come from someone who's familiar with his work. I'd be very interested in an interview with Mauro Malavasi (but I've said that before). It's also surprising to read that he's done lead vocals on the ONLY Peter Jacques Band album that I don't own!
I'd probably buy this Disco Collection if I could find an American distributor, but I'd rather have the original albums instead. It's annoying to me that some of the songs are apparently edits but even WORSE that there are songs from the last couple Change albums (which I thought were uninspired and boring).
