Fascinating read! Thank you Boris Midney and Jussi for letting us have a glimpse into one of the most brilliant producers of the disce genre past, and upcoming projects as well. I love the Loft story, and never knew Maestro Midney worked on so many other projects as well, especially the Evelyn "Champagne" King connection.

This comment alone coming from someone who really knows and understands .... is so gratifying. :icon_cool:Boris Midney:
The creation of Disco, or the Disco craze, was nothing short of a revolution against established and cliche pop sounds that allowed composers and producers to experiment with new and off-the-wall sounds - which is truly the basis for any new movement.
Obviously there were opportunistic elements that came along, (you know music is like swimming can't fake it too long), but regardless, the main music establishment felt very threatened by this new movement since very few had the chops to do it. Specifically the so called Euro-Disco was heavily dependant on knowledge of music and orchestration, and that's exactly what made it so exciting and not readily available to the other side. Traditional classical players were thrilled to have fun within this new medium... Pass the headphones, man
Disco gets so maligned .... but its by the ignorant .... as some sort of simplistic adolescent music from ...when actually the opposite is true!
Disco is THE most complex music form ever ... incorporating the best elements ....from jazz and big band ....rock ....classical ...gospel ...soul/R&B - and then swirling them all together ... and it took the talent of only those skilled in these broader areas of music to pull it off .... a sophistication of talent that most people in the rock and roll dominated music scene of the 70's did not have.
No wonder they felt so threatened and insecure by it!! :icon_twisted:
For Boris Midney to state the case so unequivocally makes my heart sing!!!! :icon_cool: :icon_biggrin: :icon_cool:
Thank you Jussi for the interview and for including my inquires ....I feel blessed this morning!

Bruce Weeden, who played a role as an engineer on many Boris Midney and Philly productions has provided some great insight into the technical and studio side of things regarding Boris' USA-European Connection and Beautiful Bend recording sessions in the comments area at:

I'm embarrassed that I even have to bring up the following, but I must:
I encourage everyone who hasn't bothered to leave a comment yet to please take a moment to do so. It's frustrating to see many people have read it, but don't bother to acknowledge the effort. Same goes for other threads here on the forums where some members have gone out of their way to post some truly outstanding material. We need your interaction and a few words can go a long way to giving people the incentive to do more of these interviews and informative posts. So please, interact... Thank you.

...ya gotta beat the street......
SanDee...I had a similar experience. I typed a message in the section with the interview and it seemed to disappear when I tried to post it--BUT then I realized it requires a moderator to approve it before it shows up. Maybe that's what happened to you? I kept writing it over and resending it!!!!:icon_exclaim:

"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
San, it's like Marky said, when you want to make a post/comment on the main site it has to be approved first and that can take a few hours.
So, smile and post one (or more) of your wonderful comments over there, it'll be appreciated!
San,
Not to worry, it's like Johan said: the comment won't appear immediately until it's approved. This can take from a few hours to a few days depending on my workload. Once you post, you'll even see confirmation that it was received and that a moderator will review it. PM me if you are still having any difficulties or getting an error message. Thanks to all for participating!
